Show THE CAMPAIGN What was Done by the Canvassing Can-vassing Party Where They Went and how They were Received Hon John T Caineand party re turned last evening from the south Since leaving Provo on Tuesday morning they have visitedas follows fol-lows Ephraim Sanpete Tuesday evening with an immense audience present over 1000 persons being in the meeting house while there was a large crowd outside Addresses were made by all the speakers The platform was adopted and nomination nomina-tion ratified amid cheers and applause ap-plause Wednesday morning the party divided Messrs Caine Richards and Thurman returning to Nephi j and Messrs Dusenoerry Clufi and Sharp going to Mount Pleasant At Nephi the party was met at the train by a committee with brass band and entering carriages a procession pro-cession was formed which paraded the principal streets The meeting which was called at 7 oclock at the Tabernacle was crowded Messrs Caine Thurmaa and Richards Rich-ards addressed the audience The TheI platform was adopted and the I nomination unanimously ratified During the evening an original poem composed by a citizen of NeplIi was recited amid great applause 0 ap-plause and the band discoursed music between the speeches At Mount Pleasant the party were enthusiastically received and honored with a big audience in the evening Addresses were I made by Judge Dusenberry and I HonsW W Cluff and James Sharp The meeting lasted three and a half hours Here also the platform was adopted and the nomination ratified without a dissenting voice On Thursday the Kephi party held meetings American Fork and Lehi in the afternoon Messrs Caine Thurman and Lyman speaking speak-ing at American Fork and Messrs Richards Booth and Caine at Lehi Both parties joined at Lehi in the evening and came on to the city The nominee and party were everywhere received with every evidence of confidence and respect and were the recipients of numerous courtesies and unbounded hospitality hospital-ity The whole party start for Tooele this morning where meetings are to be held at Tooele City this afternoon after-noon and at Grantsville in the evening |
