Show The Catholic Council Sew York 30St Patricks Cathedral Cathe-dral was thronged today with people who took part in the ceremonies attending attend-ing the Roman Gatholie Provincial council The services opened with solemn pontifical mass celebrated by Arch bEhop Oarrigan A procession of bishop bish-op theologians and priests from the cardinals residence I to the cathedral preceded the mass as at the opening of the council on Sunday last At the end of the mats which was attended by Oar dinal McOloskey a sermon reviewing the history of the church her trials and triumph was preached by Bishop Farrell Far-rell of Trenton At the conclusion of the other services succeeding the sermon Bishop Loughlin promoter of the council coun-cil moved the reading of the decrees The decrees were then approved by the bishops and were placed on the altar where they were signed by the cardinal by the bishop in the order o f seniority and by the officers of the church The decrees were then sealed with the cardinals car-dinals seal and will be sent to Borne for approval The council was formally declared closed by the cardinal after tedeum was sung and the kiss of peace given by the cardinal There were aol emn pontifioil vespers this evening and a sermon was preached by Bishop Mc eirney |
