Show Hear the Clerk Editors Herald Fearing the alarming difference between be-tween your paper and the Kcits concerning con-cerning the report of that special meeting of the City Council on Friday last may lead to some disaster dire I take this opportunity of contributing contribut-ing one humble effort towards the prevention of bloodshed The meeting of the City Council on the evening in question was not a regular one but was called hastily together by the Mayor for the purpoce of transacting some business in relation rela-tion to canal maters which could not be delayed On account of the nature na-ture of the business to be transacted on that evening it was not considered imperative the clerk either toba present at the meeting or to furnish the papers with a report of the proceedings pro-ceedings and hence he wended his way jocularly to the bosom of his family wholly oblivious of the agony his acts would occasion Verily no man knoweth what the morrow may bring forth The HERALD man obtained his report re-port of the proceedings by rustling for it the same as he would for any ether item of intelligence Probably the News man did likewise Very good But a mistake occurs somewhere some-where and who is to blame Why Hthe clerk of course or some other fellow who wasnt there All right 1 can stand i and now let the puolic get that report read the words municipal laws instead ot the word canal and the bottom ot this ocean of difficulty is sounded every body avenged and all bitterness of feeling effectually smothered neath the buffalo robe of bufalo peace THE CLERK |
