Show THE FLOODS Cincinnati 15The weather is very warm and cloudy with occasional occa-sional sunshine The river is fluctuating fluc-tuating and apparently declining but very slightly It stands about sixtysix feet three inches The flood in Licking and other streams is expected if it does not swell the stream here to check the fall The only important change in the railroad rail-road situation this morning is the transfer of trains on the Cincinnati Cincin-nati Waahingtou and Baltimore from the Cincinnati Hamilton and Dayton to its own track and making mak-ing the stock yard the station three miles from the depot This can be reached by omnibuses which must run through water a portion of the way The damage to the Cincinnati Hamilton and Dayton roads lies in the city limits caused by the sudden rise of Mill Creek and branches yesterday The track is washed out and the bridge at Cummonsville Is in danger Trains on the Pan Handle again changed their route this morning starting from the stockyards station going thence by the Cincinnati Washington Wash-ington and Baltimore road to Loveland Love-land where their own traek is reached A large quantity of eastern east-ern mail was sent out that way today to-day Considerable western mail was also sent from the stockyards station to Columbus and thence west The river has been at 66 feet two and a half inches since 10 this morning This shows no rise since this morning and leaves the hope that there may be no further rise The work of relief goes on with energy Not only is I the general committee representing the Chamber of Commerce and the common council dibbursing aid with liberal hand but the Masonic relief organization is doing a fine work Having called in volunteers to act as oarsmen for their boats which have been received from Cleveland Sandusky and Toledo thev have established relief stations sta-tions in various parts of the city Besides this the woman of all protestant churches are collecting bedding clothing eta doing sewing for the benefit of the general relief committee AM the Catholic churches have been thrown open for sleeping places for such homeless persons as may be sent by the general committee A mote complete system of relief could not be devised and the great value of the work is the thoroughness and promptness with which aid is extended ex-tended There is still a most gratifying grati-fying absence of crime It was expected ex-pected burglaries and highway robberies rob-beries would abound on account of the unprotected state of property in the flood and darkness The expec tation was not realized There have been fewer arrests the past five days than for any similar time for a month and no reports of crime have reached the police Nearly everybody every-body wears a fatigued look
