| Show FATAL TERMINATION Frank Toronto Dies From a Kick By a Horse On Saturday morning a brief item was published in the HERALD stating stat-ing that Frank Toronto had been frightfully kicked on the nose but it was not then believed that the injury in-jury was so serious It appears that on Thursday evening he left E T City about ten miles from his home finishing a long ride of sixty miles He was next found in Spencers kitchen near the point of the mountain about 4 oclock in the morning He had walked in thinking it was his own house and laid down Mr Spencer heard calling call-ing and groans but thought it was one of his men who was in the habit of talking in his sleep I Finally he called to the man who I replied that the noise was made by some one in the kitchen Mr Spencer Spen-cer immediately went to the kitchen and found Mr Toronto lying in a corner his head all swollen and covered cov-ered with blood and a large pool in the corner He asked Toronto what was wrong when he replied Oh nothing Ive got the nosebleed nose-bleed Got hit on the nose Examination showed that the nose had been kicked from its position and laid on the side of the face the only thing that held the member being a little skin near the lip and a little between the eyebrows The bones had all been broken and some of them actually kicked out and lost He was at once taken home and thence brought to this city for treatment Dr Anderson attended and removed the broken bones from the nose and discovered that the skull had been fractured at the base of the brain but did not believe that the brain had been affected During Friday night the unfortunate unfortu-nate man talked a little He said he had been lost in the sage brush and that he could only see out of one corner of his eye He found the railroad track and walked along it crossing in safety nine cow guards but stated that he had difficulty diffi-culty in keeping on the track On Saturday it was apparent he could not live and he died at 1GO oclock p m an hour and a half after his wife and two children reached the city How the accIdent occurred is not known The horse was found the next morning with the saddle on all right the lines over the horn and the rope properly tied up and also on the horn The supposition is that after the long ride the horse gave out and that Toronto got down to walk driving the horse ahead While slapping the horse to urge it forward it is believed that the animal which was probably wild kicked at him with the result stated A singular circumstance in this connection was the death of a half brother fn mere child of the deceased de-ceased which occurred four years agoat the home of MrTorontowest The child was kicked in the nose which was also torn away and the base of the skull was fractured at the same place The wounds were almost exactly alike The accidents occurred on the same day of the week and both died on the same day of the week that of MrToronto being four years and nine days later pays into the treasury as its contrI than the other Mr Toionto is a brother of Prof Joe B Toronto He leaves a wife and two children and a host of friends to mourn his loss The funeral fu-neral services will take place at 12 oclock Monday from the Eighteenth Eigh-teenth Ward meeting house |
