Show Freedom of the Press St Louis 15 Circuit Attorney Harris made application at noon today for an injunction againet Messrs Moore and Dillon editors of the Post Dispatch to restrain them from publishing using or destroying the shorthand notes of witnesses wit-nesses testimony before the last Grand Jury alleged to b i in their possession The court refused to grant the injunction on the constitutional ground that it has no right to interfere with the liber y of the press The Post Dispatch publishes this evening the testimony of exPolice Commissioners John H Maxon and Alexander Kinke Mason swore that Governor Crittenden intimated to him that it was either his desire or he ought to let up on the gamblers since it would redound to the gratification of ex Lieutenant Lieu-tenant Governor Charles P Johnson who bad procured the passage of the lawmaking law-making gambling i felony and whom he regarded as an enemy He further swore that Governor Orittenden had demanded de-manded blank resignations from some of his appointees |
