Show I I MINING NOTES From the Park City Record Considerable surveying is being done in the district Ore from the Pinyon Mine is com ing down in considerable quantities Perry and Morgan have a fine prospect about three miles below town near the E P C track Grading has been commenced on the Uintali companys property in Thanes Canyon for the iOJfoot shaft A very promising vein was recently re-cently located in Snake Creek Canyon Can-yon upon which the owners propose pro-pose doing considerable work immediately While the Ontario was shut down tho most thorough overhauling was made Hew shoes and dies were put in and several alterations and I improvements made i Maunder Bros have had a temporary tempo-rary ditch made and a stream of water taken out of Saw Mill Canyon 1 Can-yon near tho Federal tunnel with j which they are ground sluicing for ji 1 bedrock on the Comstock 2 Bv i this means they hope to find their vein in the solidfoundation The ore house at the Empire is r again in shape and is in a much t more convenient place than for t merly Vigorous work in grading i additional room for the extensive jf new hoisting works is being done The roads near the mine have beep graded and put in excellent condition condi-tion The strike in the Sioux lying north of the Pocotello is improving improv-ing A tunnel now in on the rein about sixty feet showing smooth true walls about five feet apart and most excellent vein matter resembling resem-bling closely that in the McIIenry and Ontario The depth is not yet sufficient to warrant high assays but the showing is excellent for a good mine in timeWork time-Work has been resumed on the Silver Bar and Great Western Consolidated Con-solidated with a fair prospect of continuing until an ore chimney is encountered in the tunnel A depth of 300 feet will be gained in the tunnel tun-nel which is now in seventyfive I feet on Great Western ground running run-ning for the Silver Dar Those who I are acquainted with the claims say there is no doubt about their vein being the same as the White Pine and Utah Southern Utah Times The Wood River News of May I 21st says A quartette of Frisco Utah miners Messrs Barry Stone McPhail and Morr son will not return re-turn to the classic regions of southern south-ern Utah cussing Wood River as they go for they now have a rich prospect alongside the road between Ketchum and Galena They claim to have a fourfoot vein of good ore The Southern Utah Times not only congratulates this quartette but hopes ere long to hear of other Frisco wanderers striking it rich in that land of promise During the early part of the week the wellknown mining experts G W Roberts and Col Saunders effected ef-fected in Salt Lake City the organization organi-zation of a company to be designated desig-nated the Old Hickory Mining and Smelting Company The mine is situated in Rocky District not far from Frisco and has a welldefined ledge ninety feet in width yielding 24 per cent copper and a fair percent per-cent of silver The amount of capitalization capi-talization is 810000000 Shares S50 each The latest improved copper smelting furnaces and machinery have been ordered Work upon the Carbonate Mine will be suspended long enough for the placing of a new 800foot rope which arrived about midweek Ore is being raised from G and timework time-work of sinking the shaft continues The concentrating works are being run to their full capacity and we are informed by Superintendent Farnham that this months run will be the most profitable yet made The new office of the Frisco company com-pany is nearly finished and a building build-ing is being erected over the roasting roast-ing furnace On Monday last Hon Allan G Campbell Duff Brown Bob Stead and others left here by private conveyance con-veyance for the gold fields of Osce ola for the purpose of ascertaining the truth of a report to the effect that the sluice boxes of the Camp bellForbes Company had been robbed of a several hundred dollar cleanup by a number of the miners They say there was no truth in the report and that it was simply a blackmailing scheme During the week Superintendent Wetmore has moved the Frisco office of the South Horn Company from Grampian to the building formerly for-merly occupied by the Grampian Company At the mine all the preliminaries pre-liminaries are finished and work has been recommenced upon the shaft |
