Show Selected As An Outstanding Woman Mrs. Elzada Hess of Far-mington, Far-mington, has received word that her granddaughter, Anne Hess has been selected as one of the Outstanding Young Women of America, for 1979. She was selected from among thousands of nominations submitted by respected business and civic leaders throughout the country. She resides in Montgomery, Mont-gomery, Ala. THE OUTSTANDING Young Women of America Program encourages young women to pursue roles of culture, cul-ture, civic and professional achievement and to assume leadership at local, state and national levels. Anne is well qualified anc most deserving of this honor. She graduated from Florida State University with a BS degree in education and then received her MA degree in reading education from the University of Alabama and is now studying for her PhD in reading education. She is a reading specialist, employed by the Alabama State Department of Education. She travels throughout the state of Alabama, holding workshops to instruct teachers in improved reading techniques, (or students from kindergarten through the 12th grades. ANNE HAS given lectures at the U.S. Reading and Alabama State Reading Associations As-sociations and writes the Federal Reading Progams for the state of Alabama. She is involved with the formulation and writing of minimum competency tests for the State. Department of Education, and often works long hours a day pursuing her career. She is married to Don Hess, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hess, who have been residing in Florida since leaving Utah. Don Jr. and all family members are very proud of Anne, kj |
