Show No Accident on the D U Gr A report circulated in the city last night caused a great deal of excitement excite-ment and created quite a little alarm The report was that an accident ac-cident had occurred on the Denver Rio Grande railway a short distance dis-tance outside of Denver by which over 100 persons had been killed A special train containing a party of the Grand Army of the Republic I excursionists was said to have been wrecked by an engine jumping the track and carrying the train and passengers down an em bankment Dispatches stating that such repoytshud been published in DenvE Were forwarded here over the wires D R G officials here made immediate inquiries and ultimately ul-timately learned that the report was a malicious falsehood A party of G A R excursionists had gone to Pueblo and were delayed by a washout wash-out This is the only thing that coulurrp ossiby have given rise to the report an bow far It justified the cruel canard that was perpetrated perpe-trated every reader may judge for himself |
