Show I Divorce Divorce was performed last night for the first time by the Home Dramatic Club There was a very ood sized audience in attendance and the piece was witnessed with a marked interest which must have oeen gratifying t the actors I i i society play of the Pique and Bankers Daughter stamp though entirely different and possesses a I leap well wroueht out nloL calcu atetl to excite profound interest and sympathy and maintain it keen and lively to the denouement which is very sudden almost unexpected anl very affecting The cast i a heavy one and the short notice on which the piece was produced considered con-sidered the rendition gives evidence of hard work on the pat of the young actors and much care and attention I at-tention The appearance of the I everpopular actress Miss A A Adams was greeted with applause and she so soon adapted herself to tn piece and appeared so much at home that it was not long before her presence seemed perfectly natural I nat-ural Her absence and study has done much to improve her and she is easy graceful and effective Several of the scenes between her and Mr Whitney brought tears t the eyes of many in the audience and I through the fitness of Miss I Adams for the character was more and more apparent Mr Whitney hal a very heavy part a very disagreeable dis-agreeable one in many respects yet I we question i he ever appeared to better advantage or more thoroughly thor-oughly as an actor Mr Wells a Templeton Fist made another hit and I LeClair shared in the honors doing remarkably well Messrs Cummings and Spencer were unusually good and Mrs C S Burton who has appeared but onco or twice before Milt Barratt almost his first appearance Hudson Hud-son Horsley Owens and the rest were up and did good execution in their respective parts Miss Claridgp Ir Antella Cummings Mrs Sl Clawson Miss Lide Wells and Miss LeClair were equal tj the lest and to anything they have done before Mrs L Cummings surprised her friends she did so excellently and little MaudieAdamscarriedoff full share of the honors with the most successful I is needless t refer to the music by the Careless Orchestra Orches-tra The whole peofonnance was marked wich an evenness and excellence excel-lence that is praiseworthily characteristic charac-teristic of the Clubs ments entertain Divorce will be repeated tonight night when another larce audience is looked for and a still smoother and pated better presentation is antici I |
