Stetson was waiting to welcome him on behalf be-half of the city while a salute of artillery cheers of the crowd and the music of bands announced his advance ad-vance Th introductions being made Mr Stetson after a brief address ad-dress presented the president with the engrossed resolutions of V the board of luperiuorn welcoming And extending to him the freedom ot the city Col JP Jackson followed on behalf of the citizonu at large in a few welltimed remark mark The President replied to the addresses simply by an inclination of the head end handshaking hand-shaking and after a few moments conversation was conducted to a I carriage drawn by six hanome bays 2Ies Stetson and Jackson accompanying accom-panying him General Sherman and Secretary Ramsey with the members of the and crowded with galy dressed people presented pre-sented a brilliant appearance About 930 President Hayes made 313 appearance on the lower balcony bal-cony being received with eheerr and the clapping
