Show VALLEY FORGE The proposition is on foot for the United States Government to purchase pur-chase about sixteen hundred acres of land in Montgomery County Pa and to convert the property into a national park The land includes the campingground of Valley Forge where Washington and his RImy passed the dismal and distressing distres-sing winter of 17778 At that epoch the cause of the colonists I seemed desperate but their bravery I in facing the hardships of hunger and cold and their fortitude In clinging to their patriotic Ideas fitted fit-ted tLem for triumphing over the Bitih when they next met them face to face It la fitting that Valley Val-ley Forge which thus playid great part in the revolution should be honored and no bitter suggestion has been made than this of establishing establish-ing a national park All places of historical interest connected with the struggle independence should be properly commemorated As the land ot Valley Forge has not been favorable for cultivation the lines of AYashicgtons encampment are still visible at many points and they might be restored at a small costEvening bulletin |
