Show STATE BOARD TO FIX VALUATIONS I Given Wide Scope of Power in New Plan of Taxation Pro Proposed Proposed Proposed posed in House Bill NET PROCEEDS OF MINES ONE OF IMPORTANT FEATURES OF MEASURE I The state board of equalization Is given wider power in a bill Introduced yesterday in the tho house by the committee The bill virtually builds up upa a new system of revenue and taxation The bill covers typewritten ten pages It amends twentythree sec see sections lions ions of the tue present laws The assessment of net proceeds of mines and the assessment of o 0 railroads street railroads car services telegraph I and telephone lines electric light pipe pt pipelines I lines power or express companies Is I provided for in this thI paragraph The president pre secretary superintendent or managing man agent or such sueh other officer as the state board of equalization may designate of any corporation and each person or association of persons owning or operating any railroad street railroad car telegraph telephone electric light pipe line power or express companies In more marc than one county in this state must muston muston on or before the second Monday Monda In Feb reb February February of each year ear furnish the said board a statement signed and sworn to by b one of such officers or by the person or one of the persons forming such association showing in detail for the year ear ending at 12 22 2 m on the first day da of January In each year all property pro rt real personal or otherwise owned by said corporation person or association of persons In the state including a statement of mileage in each county as valued at 12 m on the first day da of January of ot each fach year and such other information as the board may require And the owner or owners of all au mines or mining claims in the state must muston muston muston on or before befort the second Monday In Feb February February February in each year ear furnish a statement in detail showing the net proceeds of such mines or mining claims for the year end ending endIng endIng ing at 12 m on the first day da of January next preceding pr Meetings Provided For The state board must t In th the capital on the first Monday in Marchand March Marchand and continue in session until the first Monday in May On the third Monday in Ma May the board must again convene and remain in session not later than the third Monday in June the latter session for corrections On the first Monday in July another session is to tobe tobe be bc held to examine and compare re reports reports reports ports of county auditors and to make the lime annual tax levy Before the fourth Monday in June the state board shall transmit to the county auditors the apportionment of assessment for the various counties and no board of county commissioners or county count board of equalization has the power to change any assessment fixed by the state board Net Earnings of Mines In regard to the assessment of or the proceeds of mines the bill says in par part Every person corporation or association association association tion engaged in mining upon a vein or lode or placer mining claim containing any gold silver coal or other valuable mineral deposits must each year make out a statement of the gross yield of the metals or minerals from each mine owned or worked by such per person person person son corporation or association during the year next preceding pr the first Monday in January and the value alue thereof which statement shall give the fine ounces of or gold and silver and pounds of lead and copper also the net annual proceeds of coke made from coal roal or bullion or matte made from ore not taxed which is I deemed a product of mines Also a statement showing all the machinery used in min mis mining minIng ing and all property and surface im improvements improvements improvements upon or appurtenant to each mine or mining claim which have a value alue separate and independent of all such mines or mining claims owned or worked by b such person pe on corporation pr or association tion during the year ear preceding the first firstI I day da of January and the value valno of the same at 12 on n the first day of f January Such statement must be b verified by bv the oath of such person or by b the president secretary superintendent or managing agent of such corporation or association who must furnish the same to the state board of equalization on or before the sec second ond end Monday of February in I each year To Equalize Values In order that values alues may be fixed In each county with reference to equity the state board is Js empowered to deter determine mine the of real Tool estate acreage acre acreage acreage age improvements on real estate horses or mules mule cattle sheep swine bees merchandise and trade fixtures machinery tools Implements and sup supplies supplies supplies plies and certain classes of personal property |
