Show OffiCERS ARE ElECTED Salt Lake County Horticultural So Society Society Holds Its Annual Meeting J M Fisher was reelected president John Woodbury vice president and Charles Stay secretary at the annual meeting of the Salt Lake County Horti Horticultural Horticultural cultural socIety yesterday in the office of the tho county commissIoners The meeting was one of the best attended ot of the tho year year for the society and much in interest Interest terest was shown In the talks on smudging which Is attracting the fruit growers of the county more than ever everIn everIn In addition to the old officers aU all ot of the sectional vIce presIdents one for each of at the five districts In the county were reelected Just before the meeting In the e city and county building a demonstration of various smudge pots was given on the joint buildIng grounds and the fruit growers satisfied themselves as to the best appliance for their crop It Is almost certaIn that most of the fruit growers of the county will have smudge pots this spring to protect their fruit against the frosts and thus avoid another severe severe loss such as last year Both wood coal and oil smudge pots were shown but there was no definite movement for anyone any one kind The socIety adopted resolutions In honor of John P Sorensen a prominent prominent nent member of the society who died In January since the December meet meeting ing of the county fruit growers Mr Sorensen was one of the organizers of the tho society and was for several years county horticultural Inspector Ins place has been taken by Charles Stay who is also secretary of The he fruit growers grow growers ers socIety of the county I C |
