SENATOR SHAW OF IOWA We Ve note with surprise not unmixed with alarm that former Senator Kearns has hae Increased the number of ot United States senators sena tors allotted to one of the states of or the American Union It Is la perfectly well known that both Dolliver and Cummins draw pay for being United States senators from Iowa but Mr Kearns In his newspaper editorial of Monday commissions an another other othera a man named Shaw The innovation of three senators from one state will be watched with some interest Under the constitution only two senators may serve from any anyone one state Mr Kearns however rises above such commonplaces as the constitution and makes a senator of a man whom the people of ot Iowa have never yet elected to that office and who has not yet so far as the rest of the world Is concerned been seen on the floor of the senate We think the former secretary and now Senator Shaw referred to by Mr Kearns is the Albert Shaw who was long and honorably known as secretary of ot the treasury He very likely will make a good sen sea senator senator ator We are pleased at his promotion and shall watch the experiment of three members of ot the United States senate from Iowa
