U WHY THERE IS NO CAPITOL Do you remember that day last summer when the people of Utah voted on the question of raising money for the building of a state house That was the day when the American party proved Its treason treason to every obligation of progressiveness ss every demand of dt f the states advancement Leaders of that party stood s od firm and strong against the capitol election because b cause the governor of the state was a Republican They openly said they regarded it as giving gling too much prestige to the Re Republicans Republicans Republicans publicans They preferred to keep the state without a home of its own rather than trust the man the people had elected governor of Utah Every influence they could bring to bear was felt by friends of the movement It was not the opposition opposition opposition tion of Ogden which can be forgiven It was not the tho indifference of the less populous counties which was to be expected It was the jealous and shabby opposition of the very men who hav have been boasting that they expressed the progressive spirit of the thesta state sta tt It is perfectly well known how much the bosses of the American party helped Ogden in its campaign against the state statehouse house And the organ of the bosses has las within the week simply followed the beginning In n last July Jul when It brazenly declares OGDEN OUGHT TO BE THE METROPOLIS OF UTAH They have fought the state wherever they could get an audience in every part of the Union n They In Inflicted a double blow on both state and city w when hen they defeated the wish of the people to have a capitol building In Utah Traitors to the city traitors to the state united in but hatred of Republicans and the lust for loot oot they are shaming the true and earnest mem members membern bern bers of the American party and committing them I to a cause by no means worthy w I
