Show By LYDIA KILPACK 295-0021 If there is anything that annoys us, it's two people who keep talking while we are interrupting. in-terrupting. There was alot of happy greeting and talking going on in the beautiful back yard of the Earl and Helen Sanders home on Saturday evening, June 26. It was a reunion of the old Second Ward of Cen-terville, Cen-terville, which includes a great many people scattered among at least four other wards, before the last division. Friends enjoyed seeing each other again and good food was very plentiful, but the main reason for the event was to bring material things of almost any description to help out Lyn and Sandi Sanders who lost everything they owned, except the clothing they wore, in the Teton Te-ton Dam flood. Lyn is a son of Earl and Helen Sanders. The party was sponsored by Gertrude Mad-sen Mad-sen and Ruby Brown. Mrs. Kathleen Hummel has been extra busy this past week tending her three small grandchildren while their mother, Wendy Hummel Kil-pack Kil-pack is visiting with her sister Kathy Hummel Wendell Wen-dell in San Francisco. Mrs. Hummel is looking for both of her daughters to arrive during the week. Centerville people who were anticipating attending the new ward on Sunday June 27 were disappointed as the new Chapel was not quite prepared to receive them. Lloyd and Gladys Tidwell are fortunate in having a friend who flies a plane and soon after the Teton Dam burst in Idaho they went with their friend over the towns which were flooded and witnessed wit-nessed the devastation. Gladys Tidwell, in company with her sister, Mrs. Shirley Rogers, has recently returned from a trip to California. The ladies drove, stopping to visit in Cedar City and Las VegaSi In California they visited Laguna Beach, Disneyland, Knottsberry Farm, Hearsts Castle, Toscadero and Santa Barbara before coming home by plane. For their last Relief Society meeting together the ladies of the Seventh Ward drove to Bishop Melvin Green's cabin in Eden, Utah, where after enjoying a delicious lunch, they listened to a very interesting book report given by Mrs. Joan Steed. An interesting report on his mission was given in the 8th Ward on Sunday, June 27, by Craig Burnett, who recently returned from the Lima Peru Mission. Craig is the son of Kent and Bergit Burnett. After listening to a report given by electrician Jack Ricks and helpers, Lane Hansen Han-sen and Greg Davis, who had been to assist the flood stricken families in Idaho on Saturday, June 26, Craig stated that most of the people in Lima never have electricity or any of the luxuries which in our country are considered necessities. How fortunate we are. Dale and Leah Huff are parents of a new little son born on Saturday, June 26, weighing 7 lbs. 10 ozs. His name is Derek Leo and his grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. DeLos Huff of Lake Shore, Utah and Mrs. Thelma Olson, Centerville. Visiting with Mrs. Pearl Green the past 10 days has been her daughter Virginia, her husband, Mr. Don Hep-worth Hep-worth and their three children, Allen, Brent and Ann. The Hepworths home is in California and while they were here, they and Mrs. Green have been extensively entertained by friends and relatives. On Sunday, June 27, they enjoyed a family dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Hepworth, Salt Lake City. On Saturday it was a barbeque at the lovely home of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hepworth, Salt Lake City and on Friday, June 25, the whole family enjoyed en-joyed an outing at Lagoon. Included in the family are Mrs. Marilyn Giles and family and Mrs. Betty Fish-bum Fish-bum and her family, of Centerville. Cen-terville. Bishop Thomas Randall Ran-dall and wife, Lenore, with their son Brad enjoyed a trip recently to Washington D. C. where they met ther son, Fred, who had completed an LDS mission in the area, so he could return to Centerville with his family. On Sunday June 27, Fred gave a report on his mission in the Seventh Ward. Mrs. Miriam Johnson is the new Relief Society President in the Seventh Ward, replac-' replac-' ing Mrs. Pat Beazer. Mrs. Dixie Jensen is the new APYWMIA President in that ward, replacing Mrs. Dale Lords, and Dale Nichole is the APYMMIA President replacing Mr. Gerald Harris. Maurice and Dorothy Call and family entertained Albert and Miriam Johnson and family and Sheron and Norlan Walker and their family at. a Family Home Evening Barbeque Bar-beque at their home on Monday Mon-day evening, June 28. Mrs. Gertrude Roberts has returned from visiting with her sister and family, Mrs. Barbara Muirhead, of Frisco, Colo. |
