Show By ALICE MITCHELL 293-1156 This was the week of the early snows in the mountains and the big rain storm of the weekend. It was also the week of the beginning of the West Bountiful Fifth Ward and the subsequent excitement of the reorganization of two wards. The Byron Rancks returned to West Bountiful after some interesting activities at the ranch in Wyoming and after some traveling in the east. They sponsored the Biesinger Reunion at the ranch, where 180 people attended, at-tended, on Byron's mothers' line on July 8 and 9. Former West Bountifulites joining the fun were the Lawrence Alder family, the Tweet Lee family and the Kenneth Johnson family. The Rancks also traveled to the John Michael Ranck Reunion on July 15 and 16, in New Holland, Pennsylvania. Some six hundred people attended at-tended from twenty different states. They were celebrating the 250th anniversary of their first ancestor who came to the U.S. Peter Ranck Jr. joined the LDS Church in 1845 and came to Utah in 1852. He was in Winter Quarters for five years. Byron is the 7th generation of Rancks in America and Amie Johnson is the 10th generation. After leaving Pennsylvania the Rancks had the opportunity oppor-tunity of traveling in Kentucky Ken-tucky where they had spent time serving as LDS missionaries. mis-sionaries. They were entertained enter-tained royally by their former friends and contacts. Blake Alder, son of former Bishop Alder, was elated to receive his call to the New York Mission. He will speak in Sacrament meeting on the 29th of October. The David Monsons are more than happy to report that their daughter Cathy and husband Claire are the parents of a baby girl. Dee and Ann Shepard are having a ball watching the children of the area take swimming lessons in their indoor heated pool in the Sunnyview Subdivision. It is great that their pool is right in the middle of the town and is within walking distance of most. Benny Martin, son of the Howard Martins, and recently returned LDS missionary, was married in the Salt Lake Temple to Gaye Armstrong on August 31. They were honored at a reception at the home of the bride's parents the same night. The Kenneth Wellingtons had a busy weekend. They traveled to Manti to attend the wedding of Janet's niece, Trudy Judd, of Delta. She married David Whimpy of New Plymouth, Idaho. The Frank Jensens are back home after some traveling. They spent a week with (heir daughter Dean in Glendale, Calif. They enjoyed a fishing trip to Garibaldi, Oregon where the fish were really biting, especially for Signe. In the midst of other activities, activi-ties, Signe, attended the forty-fourth year of her class reunion at Payson. Chad Salmon, son of the Dean Salmons, has received his mission call to Los Angeles. An-geles. Mrs. Ileene Thurgood has spent this week visiting in Parowan with the Robert Potter family. Elaine Mann and friend spent last week in San Francisco Fran-cisco on vacation. Charlene Gapinski and twin boys were honored at a baby shower last Saturday afternoon after-noon held at the home of Nancy Orgill. Members of the Primary and other women in the community com-munity were guests. Phyllis Miller, Gerry Stout and Vickie Broderick assisted Nancy with the refreshments. The Stake Blood Drive was held this week. Representatives Representa-tives from all of the wards joined together to promote the cause. Loine Mottishaw returned from Pocatello, Idaho where . she has been visiting with her mother and father and her son Forrest and his family. Bishop Mottishaw joined Loine to visit and to return home with her. Vickie Atwood has been hospitalized for surgery for the second time because of complications. The Raymond Hayes had fun on their Heber holiday. They and Charlotte's brother Kent Van Leeuwen and family of Bountiful enjoyed the sights and sounds of the Timber Lakes Country. The Ralph McQuistons are announcing the arrival of their baby daughter born last week. The Bob Dilks have been entertaining a cousin, George Goodson and his wife Vera, who are in the U.S. from Liverpool, England. This is their first trip to America. This week the Dan Mitchells and neighbors welcomed wel-comed back to West Bountiful their neighbor and mother, Mary C. T. Watts. She has been visiting in England with her son Everett and family. David Burt of Sacramento, Calif, and his grandmother, authoress Olive Wooley Burt, joined the Dan Mitchells Monday night for a family evening. Mrs. Burt has recently finished her book, "Sacajawea," which introduces in-troduces many interesting facts concerning this Indian woman. The Sheldon Rueckerts announce an-nounce the forthcoming marriage of their son Gale to Lynnett Rogers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry L. Rogers. They will be married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Friday, Sept. 22 and will be honored at a reception at the Carillon Reception Center that evening. |
