Show HOUSE E AND BARN ARE MOVED DESTROYED Fire in Southern Part of City Claims Buildings and Livestock The residence of William H Davis Dals a plasterer at 1714 1711 South State street was totally destroyed by b fire at 2 this morning The fire caught in the barn which was partially destroyed before it was discovered It required only a few moments for forthe forthe the fire to spread to the house and It was with the utmost difficulty that Mr and Mrs Davis and their seven children escaped with their th lr lives Another part of the house was occupied occupied pied by b Bess Butcher and his wife and baby bab They The too escaped narrowly Very little of ot the furniture was saved from the house the contents of or the barn are a total loss The house and barn were the property of Robert Wills Vilis who also owns a grocery store adjoining One of ot the most regrettable Incidents in connection with the fire was the cre cremation mation matlon of a horse belonging to Mr Wills HIs and a cow which was the property of Mr Butcher The children of the family were par particularly attached to the horse The loss to the house and contents Is about 1600 the loss on the barn and ant its contents is estimated at 1000 The men from all of the fire stations responded to the alarm and water was pumped out of or the canal at Eleventh South and State streets The house and barn were practically destroyed when th firemen n arrived but they were able to save the adjoining houses and the gro grocery grocery cery store stor on the corner comer Shortly after the firemen arrived they the theran ran out of coal for tor the steamer and 60 ti pounds were furnished by b N S Larson who owns property toward the south which was saved |
