Show DRAINAGE OF ONTARIO PROGRESSING RAPIDLY Reports of the most encouraging nature continue to come from the Ontario at Park City CIt Manager Ernest Bamberger stated that the water was down to a point feet ten inches below the 1 fool level at yesterday noon and that it had been lowering at the rate of five feet a day for the past several days dars It was as expected that the twelfth large largo drill hole would be through from the side drift on the drain tunnel level last night This will make mal e a total of thirteen holes including the small mall one that was first put through to test the ground More holes will be driven to help out the flow as the pressure declines The average length of these holes is about thirty feet some more some less according ace to the angle at which they are driven Manager Bamberger states that the boys at the mine are arc anxious to see the main tunnel level drift opened with a cut through the intervening wall but he is not inclined to permit the work being done It would likely be all right he admits but In case casc anything should go wrong as a result of such a move he would never forgive himself for it itI 1 I consider that we are arc doing pretty prett WEll weH as It is Iso said Mr Ir Bamberger and Ond while the mine might be drained quicker by tearing a big hole through the main drift I think it will be better to have a little patience p and move moe with certainty It is now over oer three years since the tun tunnel tunnel tunnel nel caved and the mine became inundated and I dont want to have hae something som hap happen happen happen pen now as a result of haste or the mat matter matter matter ter of gaining maybe a months time that might put us back again At the present rate it will not take long to lower the water another feet teet and 1 I feel that wo we can afford to move with care and cau caution caution caution tion until we know the mine has been reclaimed I |
