Show Bad News In Mousing All the statistics point up the bad news in housing. The average new home costs more than $60,000.. .interest rates are sky high. ..and even though the housing market is beginning to slump, prices are expected to stay high. BUT FOR young buyers discouraged about ever owning own-ing a home, the Neighborhood Preservation Association has good news you can still buy a house for under $30,000. -' ' ' That may sound impossible, jj but NPA president Roland ' Andrews says it isn't. "Plenty of good bargains under $30,000 still exist in some of the older Salt Lake City area neighborhoods," he said. "You just have to know how -to find them." TO HELP people do just , that, the NPA has published a booklet, "How to Buy a Home for under $30,000," which can be purchased by sending $2.50 to NPA to cover printing, handling and mailing costs. The Neighborhood Preservation Preser-vation Association is dedicated dedicat-ed to keeping neighborhood- alive and viable. "We are slowly seeing a return of young people to the old neighborhoods, but we still have far to go, President Fenton said. "You'd be surprised how much people " come to love these neighborhoods neigh-borhoods once they become involved in them." AS POINTED out in recent news articles, recycling neighborhoods is an idea whose time has come and .people who get involved not only have fun but save a tot of money. The booklet leads prospective prospec-tive homebuyers with "little money step-by-step to success in purchasing an older home. It discusses how to arrange cheap financing and how to get free help from public and private agencies.
