Show You'll Vote On De-annexation HOOPER - Davis County voters will decide, at least in part, the fate of some 60 families living in the "Lapland" area of northwest Davis County. VOTERS IN both Davis and Weber counties will cast ballots next Tuesday (November 7) for or against annexation of that portion of Davis County to Weber County. Davis County Commission has publicly announced its objections ob-jections to the annexation, charging that the loss of the property would result in at least $45,000 loss of property tax to the county. BUT A majority of the 60 families living in the area favor de-annexation from Davis County and annexation to Weber County. Involved would be slightly more than 3,000 acres. RESIDENTS OF the area, called "Lapland" because of its isolation and connection to both Davis and Weber Counties, Coun-ties, petitioned for de-annexation from Davis County and annexation into Weber County because, they say, most of their social, economic and educational ties are with Weber County. But even though a majority of residents living in the area apparently want the boundary change, it will be up to Davis and Weber County voters to decide their fate. THE MAJORITY of Davis County voters have got to approve the de-annexation and the majority of Weber County voters must approve the annexation. Thus, Tuesday's election will tell the tale, grb |
