For ""'fhat reason, I served as 'Xairman of the Proposition lk ' Committee, a group of nvmakers and concerned ci-' ci-' ( California, who tried i shake these sub-human -vornographers out of our ,lm trees by amending our jte constitution. THE PROPOSITION was a it and detailed definition of i rnography, making it J sier (or the police and the mrts to convict the irninals, because specific :ts and practices were """"early defined. - However, the wealthy por-L. por-L. ''w got four lovely, un-yung un-yung daughters, and jj prospect of being unable to shield their eyes and ears from man's worst depravity openly showing in the newspaper news-paper ads and on the steets in front of our favorite family restaurants, makes me know that we've already lost a precious freedom the freedom from pornography. BUT THIS is America. We still have that Constitution. It will still work if we'll be as diligent as the pornographers have been. May I recommend several surefire things? FIRST: PRAY! Most folks do that if all else fails. That's backward. Pray first. Pray that God will intervene in the affairs of our nation, bless the efforts of those who oppose such works of darkness as pornography, and curse the efforts of those who promote it! He promised He'd do just that if we'd ask Him to. Read 2 Chronicles 7: 14. God hates filth, sin and perversion far worse than we do it cost the life of His Own dear Sonl Pray often about it. Second: Write! Letters still carry a lot of weight, especially prayer-soaked ones, and in quantity. Mobilize your friends, church folks, PTA and civic clubs to write your elected representatives represen-tatives and tell them you've had enough. START WITH the President, then the Senate, then Congress, then your own governor, and on down the line of your own city and community leaders. Tell them you're just as concerned about spiritual pollution as you are about physical pollution pollu-tion they'll get the message. mes-sage. And they can change things, if they know you really care. Third: Vote! Put men in office who will take an active interest in the spiritual well-being well-being of your community and your neighbors. Listen to what they say, and during the next election year, let the candidates know what your concerns are and ask their positions. IF YOU possibly can, get involved in the elective process right from the beginning. begin-ning. Work in the precincts, make calls for your candidate, can-didate, encourage good men to run for every office from the lowliest to the most important. im-portant. Once you feel you know the best man for the job, talk to your friends and let them in on it. Tell them why you want him elected and that he'll work to clean up the community for you and your children. Fourth: Act I Think of your own peaceful ways to make things tough on pornographers. por-nographers. The Bible says, "Be not overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good I" For instance, several well-dressed Christian women with Bibles in their hands, standing in front of a porno bookstore or movie house and silently praying would greatly cut down on the trade and who could object? ob-ject? AND WHY not place some simple posters beside the vending machines that sell porno papers. We must remind passersby of the cost of pornography to our society. Why not plac. a V cardboard cutout of a child peering into the vending machine to illustrate the final victims of this cancer? Fifth: READ! Learn from books like "The Blueprint" and "Like A Roaring Lion," both by George Otis. Read Scriptures like Psalm 34: 14, Psalm 37: 3 and 27, Luke 6:35, Hebrews 13: 16, James 4: 17 Galatians 5 and Philippians 4 to keep the Lord's perspective on these issues in mind. Be strengthened and motivated to "work while it is light -for the night Cometh, when no man can " ANP MJAIN: Pray! Bathe all this in prayer, becaur God does care. "He will be involved with us, with our country, with our children and our government. Let's make that slogan on our money real again: In God We Trust. THE BATTLE against pornography por-nography can be won and that's good newsl |
