active interest and par ticipation of individuals organizations and officials throughout the state in an effective cooperative program of the crippled child Dr Jones said that 2000 crippled children have been located and registered for investigation Of these 614 have already been certified for treatment The state has been divided into districts and there will be a diagnostic clinic in each one Physicians Help The crippled children were located through local physicians hospitals schools public health nurses social workers clubs agencies and other organizations in local areas interested in child welfare work The diagnostic clinic is the place where examinations of the children will be made by orthopedists to determine the exact nature of the defects and recommendations made for care and treatment To receive care a child must come within the following definition of crippled child: “A physically handicapped mentally normal person under the age of 18 years who by reason of certain defects or deformities whether congenital or acquired by accident injury or disease is or may be expected to be totally or partially for education or remunerative occupation Care limited to orthopedic
