Show In memoriam The University community is saddened by the death of Dr. Ray L. Doran, professor of physics. A professor at the University since 1946, Dr. Doran was widely-known as an instructor of Physics 105 (formerly Physics 5). "He developed and built that class," said Dr. Peter Gibbs, Department of Physics chariman." "He will be extremely extre-mely difficult to replace." Undergraduate students will remember Dr. Doran for his dynamic approach to the course. In Dr. Doran's class, the student with a non-science background found physics fun and comprehendable. An instructor in the Department of Political Science had Dr. Doran's physics class on his list of "musts" for political science majors. In 1968, he was awarded the Department of Physics' Outstanding Teacher Award. The Chronicle joins the University community in extending extend-ing sympathy to Dr. Doran's family and in expressing appre-aciation appre-aciation for his dedication and service to the Univerisity. |
