Show PR07.1INENT UTAH STOCKMAN DIES WOODS CROSS Stearns B. Hatch, 85. head of one of the west's largest sheep enterprises and prominent L. D. S. church official, offi-cial, died at his home, here Tuesday night after four years' Illness. From early youth Mr. Hatch was a leading figure m Davis county church and business affairs. Except Ex-cept for a year and a half In the Bear lake region of Idaho, he lived In Davis county all of his life. He was born December (. 1853, In South Bountiful ward, a son of Ira S. and Jane Bee Hatch. Mr. Hatch's numerous business enterprises Included the presidency - of the Deseret Livestock company, the Hatch Brothers Stock company and the Woods Cross Canning company. com-pany. He was a director of the Bountiful State Bank since its founding. From 1905 until 1915 he was bishop of the South Bountiful L. D. S. ward and later was a counselor In the South Davis presidency and high councilman In the Davis L. D. 8. stake. Surviving are three sons, Ira Stearns Hatch of Salt Lake City -"Wid John L and MIWord Wr Hatch of Woods Cross; six daughters, Mrs. David Howard of Woods Cross, Mrs. . Melvln Nelson and Mrs. George Reed of Clearfield, Mrs. Leona I. Wilson of Fsrmington, Mrs. Oscar Eskelson of Kantaa and Mrs. John C Smith of La Verne, Cal.; 42 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services win be conducted con-ducted Sunday at 3 p. m. In the South Bountiful U D. S. ward chapel bv Walter Moss, bishop. Internment In-ternment will be In the Bountiful cemetery. |
