Show SENATOR LANE DIES IN SAN FRANCISCO Stricken in Washington, the Oregon Statesman Failed in Attempt to Beach Home. SAN FRAXCTSCO, May 23. United States Senator Harry Lane of Oregon, died at " a hospital here late tonight from a nervous disorganization produced pro-duced by a blood clot on the brain. Senator Lane was stricken while in Washington. He stopped here on his way to his home in Portland to recuperate. recu-perate. Last Thursday he was taken I to a hospital, and on Monday the doc-! doc-! tors pronounced the case hopeless. Senator Lane was 62 years old. He is survived by his widow ai. two daughters, Mrs. Nina Lane MeBride of Washington, D. C, and Mrs. Harriet Lane Hicks of Norfolk, Va. Senator Lane was the son of an Oregon Ore-gon pioneer, having been bora at Cor-vallis. Cor-vallis. He was a graduate of the medi-cal medi-cal department . of Willamette university univer-sity and practiced medicine for many years. Prior to his election as senator he was mavor of Portland from 1005 to 1907. He was the last man elected to the United States senate from Oregon by a legislature, although the legislature carried out the wishes of voters who gave him a majority in the election of November, 1012.
