Caramel Apple People can be made early in the day or the children can make and decorate their own Caramel Apple People during the party. Let the kids make simple, scary party invitations. Just cut out Halloween shapes like pumpkins, cats and witches hats from orange and black construction paper. Write party specifics in crayon. Use miniature pumpkins, about the size of oranges, as place setting markers. Just write each guest's name on a pumpkin with a felt-tipped pen. For extra fun, carve the pumpkins first, fill with caramels and you've got easy, festive, take-home treat cups. C Blow up orange balloons. Draw jack-o-lantern faces and tie on black and orange streamers (ribbons) for spooky, floating decorations. Let each guest decorate his or her own Zap an Apple. Provide candy corn, nuts, hard candy, raisins, etc. to create chewy, gooey Caramel Apple People. C Serve Caramel Crispy Treats. Use a pumpkin cookie cutter to cut the Crispy Treats into fun Halloween shapes. C Make a pin-the-tail-on-the-black-cat game. Draw a large black cat (without a tail) on a piece of poster board or a cut and flattened paper grocery bag (use tin foil for gleaming eyes, uncooked spaghetti for whiskers, etc., if you like). Cut out several paper "cat tails" or create by braiding pieces of black yam. Attach a small piece of tape to each tail and let blindfolded guests take turns at "pinning" on the tail. Host a treasure hunt. Hide caramels, plastic toy spiders and bats, gold candy coins, etc. in your yard. Give each player a flashlight to search for the treasure. The one who finds the most wins! Create a pumpkin pinata. Blow up a large, round balloon and cover with paste-soaked paste-soaked strips of newspaper (paste can be flour and water, diluted glue, wallpaper paste, etc.). Let dry for two days, paint orange and black, pop the balloon and fxll with caramels and other treats. Hang the pumpkin up and let each guest take turns striking the pinata with a plastic bat. Watch the treats come raining down! t Play the Mummy Wrap. Divide guests into teams. One guest (the mummy) holds the end of a roll of toilet paper while the other guests take turns unrolling it around him or her to create a mummy.
