Show THOSE POOR SUGAR BEETS Why tIle Lehi Factory Refused to Accept Tliexti It Is a fact quite generally known that for various reasons but principally on account of the very unusuaJ and heavy rains of last August and September a number of the sugar beets in the lower I end of Utah county took a second growth and did not come up to the standard of 11 per cent surcose with 80 per cent purl ty as required by the contract and for that reason were not accepted by the fac tory at Lehi says the Lehi Banner It is also generally known that some of the growers wlio owned these poor beets were far from satisfied with the results of the analysis of their beets as reported from the factory claiming that fair samples had not been taken mis takes J had probably been made favorit Ism had been shown etc etc To prove their assertions and at the same time secure evidence of the unrelia bility of the Utah Sugar companys works a number of samples were select ed by the farmers themselves from several i sev-eral of the rejected beet patches and sent to government experts for analysis There seemed to be no question in the i minds of many but what the returns 1 would surely show a quality above that required by contract and various and numerous were the rumors floating about as to what was going to be done to compel com-pel the Sugar company to accept the re jected beets The returns came in due time but were far from being what was expected or desired The analysis as reported by government station showed from 10 to 15 per cent sucrose with purities of from K to 76 only not one going up to the re quirements of the contract thus vlndi eating the work done at the factory Tha sugar per cent was undoubtedly made to Show high in these samples because of their drying out some It nec essarily taking several days between the pulling of the beets and the time they could reach their destination and be ana lyzed while the factory samples are usually usu-ally made within twentyfour hours after beIng pulled In connection with this it may be as well lo state that any suspicions as to the inaccuracy or unreliability of the work done in the laboratory of the Sugar company are entirely uncalled for aid without foundation With the very best and most approved appliances for every detail of the work and skilled men who make the business a specialty and a pride the work must be absolutely correct An institution of the magnitude and importance of the Utah Sugar factory cannot be run by guess work nor by doubtful or suspicious methods and when any results or statements are given out officially by that company they may be depended upon as being correct Ceylon Tea is now drunk In Europe I for its purity and economy Blue Cross Ceylon Tea is the general favor ite FUNERAL SERVICES
