It is no small accomplishment for a church this size to have had most of the physical labor and funding generated from the congregation. “There have been so many members of this church family who have contributed in a number of ways!” Pastor Dom remarks. “The men came for special projects such as raising the trusses, and they came faithfully for the Saturday workdays.” Women helped with cleaning, staining, varnishing and painting. Pastor Dom’s brother Carmen came from Michigan to tile the floors in the bathrooms and entryway. The Gonino’s son and his college friends came the cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms. Elaine Gonino, Cindy Beiger and other women from the congregation painted fluffy white clouds on the walls in the church nursery. Though most of the funds for the project came from the congregation, monetary gifts also came from people all over the country. The final cost of the building came within a few thousand dollars of the estimated $250,000. Pastor Dom also explained, “A host of people came forward and did projects voluntarily at just the right time. Local contractors The first service in the new building will be held almost exactly a year after the groundbreaking—Sunday, June 8 at 11:00 a.m. That afternoon at 4:00, there will be a dedication service with guest speaker Paul Seger, director of Biblical Ministries Worldwide. Refreshments will follow. Pastor Dom states, “We would like to invite everyone to join us for this special day. On Saturday, June 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Ooops, you missed a spot! Having fun while they work. from Wyoming through snowstorms to hang dry wall. Pastor Dom explains, “The projects that we were able to do ourselves included part of the foundation, framing, roofing, drywall, painting, most of the excavating, electrical, and plumbing.” Dieter Beiger built the steeple of the church, and the Smiths built provided help and advice, people from the community helped, tech teams came from other bible churches, mission teams came from Michigan; Frontier School of the Bible in Wyoming; and from Appalachian Bible College.” Pastor Dom also talks about an incredible phenomenon, how several skilled people stopped at the church . . . just to offer their help. “One man walked in one day and asked. ‘I am a roofer—can I help you out with your roofing.’” Another caller offered, “I am a carpenter and have a couple of weeks before I start my next job. Can you use some help?” Pastor Dominic adds, “We are praying that God will use our church building to continue our mission to provide good, solid bible teaching and to provide a haven for those who are looking for a church home that teaches the bible.” noon, we will be hosting a special open house for the community. Everyone is invited! Elaine Gonino shares her husband’s beliefs and deep love for God and people. Putting everything into perspective, looking back over all that has transpired since they came to the Valley, Elaine remarks, “It has been so exciting to see this God-given vision come to fruition. When we began this journey we asked God to lead and guide us each step of the way, and to stop us if this was not His will. He has given His blessing on this special group of Christians and proved the truths found in Ephesians 3:20, ‘Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us.’ We thank God for providing in so many ways, and we thank those who have been part of that provision.” The members of the Fellowship Bible Church’s small congregation are extremely grateful to God for their church in Liberty, and for the unexpected gift the Italian Pastor and his wife who came to plant a church in Ogden Valley. They agree that the Goninos gave them the encouragement and the means to put their Christian roots down in this fertile ground, to grow into a light for others. Pastor Dom was humbled during a resent service. He reminisces, “I thank God for those ministries that I have pastored through the years. God has always given me wonderful people to preach to.” He adds with earnestness, “I don’t say that to pat you on the back, I just say that as a reality. To preach to people who are eager to hear the Word of God is a wonderful blessing.” The Goninos believe that there is something special that God does when His people get together for praise, worship, prayer, and the preaching of His word. There are profitable results from fellowship with God’s family. The Goninos feel that God knows that there are great benefits of being part of a church family. They cry with you in heartache, rejoice with you when your child is born or when a surgery goes well. “It is good to be with God’s people.” The Italian Pastor had final words for his congregation as they completed the finishing touches to the new Liberty church. “The building project we have been through has been painful, and at times it called for a great deal of sacrifice. It caused us to step out in faith and trust God completely. If we want God’s blessing, it has nothing to do with bricks and mortar and 2 x 4’s. It has to do with our heart condition towards God. If our condition is right with God, then God will bless us more than we can ever imagine!” The members of the Fellowship Bible Church believe that they have already been blessed more than they ever imagined because God sent them Pastor Dominic and Elaine Gonino. Future Space Available Call 801-479-1163 Help Control Dyers Woad Now! Pull it, Spray it, Cut it, But, PLEASE, don’t let it continue to spread! Why? It’s an invader, not native. You have neighbors and friends. We all have landscapes. The Valley is beautiful with its natural flora. Dyers Woad is one of Utah’s most wanted noxious weeds. It’s unlawful to allow it to grow out of control. Without your help, it will continue to spread… Each flower produces 100’s of seeds. The tap root robs the soil of water and nutrients, and sends natural flora – and your landscape – into submission. Once the seeds have turned brown to black, they are ripe and ready to fall or blow into the wind to another location.
