Show Page 12 Foster Grandparents Give Love _., by Rhoda Werner Foster grandparents are kept very busy at present working with tiny babies giving them tender loving care. Mrs. Ruth Conrow is enthusiast ic about the foster grandparents helping with the Community Service Council Salt Lake CAP (Community Action Program.) The foster grandparents’ visit deprived children in institutional programs four hours every day for five days a week. Most of these children are emotionally, physically or mentally handicapped needing a great amount of individual time. To each foster grandparents two children are assigned, to whom they give a lot of love and attention and all their time. The program is funded by HEW (Health, Education, and Welfare) program, 90% of the funds come from federal help with 10% of the money furnished locally. The foster grandparents receive many fringe benefits, free hot meals are served transportation to them, furnished, bus smocks and jackets to work in and physical examinations given onceva year.
