I think it should be the responsibility of all of us to work to this end, and the way do do that is to have all of us support' ing all events. Support has been fair up until now, lets make it Memorial (Planned For Tommy Olsen The faculty and student council are formulating plans for a memorial to Tommy Olsen, who died as a result of injuries received in a motorcycle accident at Charleston, Utah. The memorial is to consist of a fountain and bench near the southwest corner of Converse Hall. It is to cost about five hundred dollars, so you can see the support that is needed to erect this remembrance to Tommy. Dont forget to give Mrs. Baldwin any con tribution you can possibly afford; every dollar counts a great deal. What Is WSSF? W. S. Actaually things have happened so fast and furiously that most of us had hardly realized how far we had advanced into the semester (until the midterms of last week). Especially noticeable about this time is the way the fresh' men have become part of the school, and are taking an active part in our functions. Also, this year producing more activities and functions at West' minster than any year of the last four has produced in the same time. 1950-51- Ferry Hall We Humbly Apologise to Minnie We would like to notify all that the Smoker on the third floor of Ferry Hall has been recently redecorated. Nancy Ewing, Lydia Gerry, Billie Hahn, Winnie Pittman, Willie Gould, Dona Stafford, Betsey Burns, Marilyn Maulsby and Blythe Clymer were the chief painters. The piano and the walls are pale green, the piano stool is a lovely red, as are the light switches. Red linoleum has been ordered and drapes will be made. Subject grades arent the only grades the girls of Ferry Hall get. The only As some of them have gotten so far, are in room grades. They are based on the neatness and general appearance of the rooms. The original name of this organization was the Far Eastern Relief Fund. In 1940, the official name became W. S. S. F., World Student Service Fund. At this time the biggest aids went to students of Japanese extraction in America and to student prisoners of war. Thirty'three nations iesides the United States are involved in W. S. S. F. or in similar programs. The unique thing of W. S- - S. F. is that it is a relief organization limited to students. Only students give to the fund, and only students may receive from the fund. The time has now come during this school year for the students of Westminster to help their neighbors in foreign lands. Well, well sign off for now and remind you to treasure your freedom. You see, if you dont already know, the girls of Ferry, must sign out whenever they leave the campus and must be in at 8:30 on week nights. They really dont mind, though, for they have to study some time. 2 OjmmuiiiinuiumimnuiiiiimiiaiimiiiiiiiniiiiiiiiiiiiniiiiimiiiiniiiinmmniiiimiiiHuiiiiiiiuiiinimiiiiimnmmiiminiiimuniinmiii' & j 1 IRENE BEAUTY SALON 2044 South th East Phone 1 SPECIALIZED 1 7-19- 51 PERMANENTS TO SUIT YOUR INDIVIDUALITY Smimniiiiiiiiiiiiammniiiiuiiiiiifiiiiinmiiimiioiiiiiiiiiiiaiiiiiiniiiiniiiiiiiiiiiiniiiiiiiiiiiiniimiimiiniiiiiiiiiiiiniiiiiiniiiinmraimiit I imiiiiiiiiniiiiiiiiii!oiiwwinaiiiit!iiiiiiuiiii!tiiimniimiiiii,$ M |
