Small increases were reported in all grades, of limestone ores and sandstone ores. Lead Statistics Told By , Bureau of Mines New supply of lead in April totaled 110,800 tons . and 95,400 tons were reported consumed, according to the Bureau of Mines, United States Department of the Interior. .Output at primary refineries was 47,200 tons of refined and 5,300 tons (lead content) of ' antimonial lead; 34,700 tons were reclaimed by secondary smelters; and 23,600 tons of lead (as metal) were imported. Producers' output of refined lead was 3 percent below production in March, but shipments were about 1,500 tons less than production and the difference was added . to refinery stocks. This was the 6th consecutive increase in producers' stocks of refrom 17,300 tons on fined lead November 1, 1955, to 43,300 tons on April 30, 1956. Shipments of antimonial lead were also lower than the 5,600 tons produced and stocks increased from 9,400 to 9,800 tons during the month. Output of refined lea dtotaled 164,700 tons in the first 4 months of 1955 and 185,600 tons in the like period of 1956. Mine production of recoverable lead in April decreased 6 percent from the March level to 29,200 -- tons. It will serve the exploration and development projects in the Ambrosia Lake and tributary areas. To assure that a market can be provided for all producers of such ores in the Grants district, the potentially large producers will be limited to a reasonable tonnage of development ore, pend- ing construction of milling facilities adequate to handle the output of these properties on a full production basis. . C&rnotite and roscoelite4ype ores will be purchased under the terms and conditions of Domestic Uranium Program Circular 5, Revised. Other types of uranium ores containing not more than six per cent lime (CaCOS) will be purchased at Circular 5, Revised, prices under the terms of ore procurement contracts with individual producers, provided the ores have suitable metallurgical characteristics. Payment of ores containing more than six per cent lime (CaC03) that are purchased under individual contracts and delivered and accepted at the Commission buying station will be at prices set forth in Domestic Circular 5. Full Scale Mining Moves On Moki Uranium Land Durango Mining Now In First Offering Phase 290,-50- 0 69,-0- 0 The Moki uranium claims in San Juan county, Utah came into the news this week. Full scale mining operations were to go into effect the first of the week. Two ore deposits of commercial grade uranium have been outlined by drilling on the section. Utah and Idaho firms are in on the venture. The Moki lease is held by the Moki Mining Co., a Utah corporation. Second group of claims, the Nighthawk group is owned by Nighthawk Uranium, a Utah firm. A full scale mining program was scheduled to start July 1. Rimledge entered a deal with the two owning companies early in 1956, They agreed to do 2000 feet of preliminary drilling on the Moki ground and to split net profits with the owners after paying Utah state royalties. On the Nighthawk contract, Rimledge was to receive 12 per cent gross royalty on all ores mined. in Consolidated, joining Rimledge, acquired a 50 per cent interest of Rimledge share of proftis.
