Show THE GREEN SHEET 5 County Fire Prevention Program - Old Ambulance Aids In Education by Paula Huff Oreen Sheet Staff H'riter GRANITE PARK.An okTsait Lake County ambulance has been designated as the Fire Fepartments public education unit. For Jay Miles, it was a dream come true. He is the countys public education director. Having a strong public education unit has been a dream of mine for 15 to 20 years - ever since I had to carry the first little one out of a burning building dead, he said. This new ambulance will allow Miles to easily transport props to area schools, thereby teaching fire prevention to the most susceptible victims, Miles said. For years the Fire Department has done a good job putting out fires, but weve gone as far as we can go, he said. Now prevention is the HTA key. Miles teaches elementary school children to put a fire out on their clothes by rolling. Using a small playhouse and students imagination, Miles teaches the children to roll out of bed and crawl on the floor when there is a fire in their home. If the door feels hot, he teaches the children to exit from the window. Thursday, April 2, 1987 Volunteer Campground Hosts Are Needed At Several Sites Green River, Goblin Valley, Hu- SALT LAKE. She also pointed out that a nearly perfect project was proposed for the area a few years ago, but it was, after being approved by the commission, rejected by the City Council. What are we going to put in there other than a plowed field? Elford queried at one point. Peterson again responded that a mobile home park doesnt' meet the master plan. There are enough parks near this one; the area is saturated with them and Im also concerned because not one has worked in the last six years. Theyve all failed, she said. Following the discussion, Elford made a motion to approve the zone change, with an addition that called for the land to revert back to l if building permits werent obtained within one year.
