However, girls must have their articles in to the sewing department at Davis High by January 3, stated Mrs. Swan. Requirements are mainly: (1) Be a resident of one of the contest states. (2) Make and model a 100 wool dress, suit, coat, or ensemble. Full contest rules may be obtained from either Mrs. Swan, Kaysville, or Mrs. Muriel Larsen of the Davis High clothing department The judging is based on the appearance of the costume and the girl, the workmanship, and the appearance of the costume when modeled by the girl. A total of $45,000 in awards will be presented to national winners including scholarships, trips, sewing equipment, wool fashion fabrics, and U.S. Savings Bonds.
