The meetings will be open to the community. The top three candidatetes Curt Apsey, Steven Hoiton and William Weidner were chosen from a group of 45 applicants. Apsey, a graduate of Cal Poly State University, has been a part of college athletics for over 23 years. Since 1998, he was the associate director of athletics at Boise State University. Apsey will meet with students, fans and community members on Sept 14 at 6 p.m. on the third floor of the Stewart Stadium Sky Suites. Hoiton, longtime athletic director at Northern Arizona, is scheduled to meet in the Shepherd Union Ballroom A on Sept 21 at 6 p.m. US Card pt-ayer ftwwnts Monday, September 13,2004 'Cats continuedfrom page 7 linebacker Andy McFadden came up with a big defensive play on the Miners' two-point conversion try to keep the score 12-0. Since leaving WSU in 1988, Price's coaching career has been a roller coaster of ups and downs. The ups included a 1997 National Coach of the Year award while at Washington State, along with a Rose Bowl appearance. Price helped quarterbacks Ryan Leaf and Drew Bledsoe into the NFL. Price moved on to the University of Alabama, but due to an embarrassing and controversial incident where he was caught partying in a strip club and a subsequent Sports Illustrated article explicitly reported it, the old coach was shown the Crimson Tide's door. Price has since worked to reclaim a clean image. He is also suing Sports Illustrated for libel. Now, in his first year at UTEP's helm, Price improved to 11 with the victory over the Wildcats. When it comes to the Miners' coaching staff, the Price family is well represented. Father Mike is the head coach, while son Aaron is the quarterbacks coach and son Eric is the offensive coordinator. This is the first time the three have worked together on the same staff. The Price family hopes to turn the Miners' fortunes around from a disappointing 2-11 season a year ago. Weber State falls to 0-2 on the season and will look to rebound Saturday at home against UC Davis of the Great West Conference. there." club sporting event. that I possibly can and tell everyone about it. I can't do much for you if you think the tuition is too expensive or the eduction isn't good at Weber. But I am going to find lots of sports for you to be a part of while you're here. And remember what Jared Hansen said, "Weber State is what you make it." • Thats it! Weber isn't as bad off as everbody thinks. They just don't know what's going on. That's why I, Kelly Maw, the assistant sports editor at The Signpost, am going to seek out sports and recreational activities that can be experienced as either a spectator or a participant. Then, a column will be published about my experience called "I'll try anything once!" Also included will be dates, times, and costs of future events and activities.
