Officers Named In Today's Assembly Results of yesterday's sophomore-f elections were: President, Russell Carruth; vice president, Delsa Davis; and secretary, Jo Anne Cliften. Other candiates running for the finals were: Scth Blair, for president; Ilene Kendall for vice president, and Peggy Thomas for secretary.Students who were candidates in the primary elections which was held last week were: Dick Critch-low, Bill Radmall, and Arvin Shreeve for president; Anne Hep-worth, Joan Milner, and Gloria Murphy for vice president; and Carol Folkman, Donna Olley, and Patsy Pollard for secretary. Duties To be eligible for office a candidate must be carrying at least 12 hours of credit during the present quarter and completed 12 hours the previous quarter with an average of "C" or better. Sophomore officers for the past year planned Freshman Week which included a dance, assembly, and election of freshman queen. They combined with the freshman class officers in staging thefreshman-sophomore dinner-dance, and sponsored the sophomore outing which was held last Friday. Soph. Blvd. -7 Kussell Carruth To start the day off right there was an assembly with a great deal of audience participation. Don Soelberg gave 'an imitation of our good mayor "Harm" and then led the group in community singing. The right words for "Daisy" weren't quite up to par for President Dixon so he gave his own rendition. With challenges coming from the audience the following contests were arranged. Students vs. Faculty in volleyball, President Dixon-Margaret Bott vs. Carol Schofield-Betty Waley in paddleball and Harry James vs. Thatcher Allred in a battle of wits. President Wins The battle of wits didn't materialize but the team of President Dixon and Margaret Bott came through with a sounding 21-9 win over their rivals. This was for the girls' doubles championship of Weber.The volleyball game was close throughout but with two Hawiian boyps, Wesely Kahahoa and Henry Granberg leading the students, they The Faculty turned out eager to won a two out of three game series, trim the students. The first set went to the faculty 15-13, the second to the students in overtime 17-15; the last set and the match went to the students 15-13. Also on, the assembly Bruce Wallace, noted Weber vocalist proved he wasn't only a great singer but also a preacher that could put over his point. Other Activities Lew Cook took the stand and Weberite Gains Awards At A. C. Horse Show Bob Rees, Weber college sophomore, won first and second place ribbons, and a trophy at the U. S. A. C. Agriculture club's 18th annual horse show, May 21, 1949. The show, which is an annual affair, was held in the Cache county fair grounds. "With Steel Dust-Miss Accident, his registered American quarter horse, Bob won his first place ribbons, and trophy in the cutting and roping class. He also won a second place ribbon and a clothing certificate in open quarter horse class. Now a sophomore at Weber, Bob is majoring in animal husbandry. Bob is formerly from Oregon and has won many awards in the past in such contests. Blvd. Delsa Davis Jo Anne Cliften Ex-Weberite Now WAC Recruit Nancy J. Beach, Ogden, Utah, recently arrived at Camp Gordon. Georgia, where she is now attending the southeastern signal school. She enlisted in the Women's Army Corps last February. Recruit Beach is the daughter of Mrs. W. B. Beach, T-ll Bonneville Park, Ogden. She is agraduate of Weber college. In filling out an application for a factory job, a man puzzled for a long time over this question: Person to notify in case of accident? Finally he wrote: "Anybody in sight." Students were also treated to a matinee dance, a free swim in the pool which stayed open all day, and free passes were given out to attend the Egyptian theatre.
