Snow Carnival Is Enjoyed By Weber Students The Snow Carnival, sponsored by the Sophomore and Freshman class of Weber College, was held February 13, at Snow Basin. The activities of the students consisted of sleigh-riding, tobogganing and, as an added attraction, there was a "tug of war" between the two classes, with Sophs 'victorious over "Freshies." Afterwards the hungry crowd enjoyed hot chocolate and spud, nuts, free of charge. Myron Child and Bob Francis, presidents of the two classes, planned this event and took charge of the activities. The first game was decided by foul pitching as Weber made 19 out of 37 foul pitches compared with Boise's 31 out of 49. Weber scored 28 field goals to Boise's 26, but lost at the foul line 83 to 75. Peterson, Low-der, and Larsen scored 39 points for Weber. Garrison of Boise scored 22 markers. Saturday's game was won 91 to 70 by the Broncos. Weber led awhile in the first period but Boise proved to be too much to handle on the home court. Nish and Shaw started for Weber, and Garrison and Uriegen hit for the Broncos. As a result Weber ended the season in the cellar of the I. C. A. C. Northern Division with 4 wins and 8 losses, many of said losses being by close margins The Wildcats lost 3 to Ricks and Westminster, and 2 to Boise, while winning 2 from Boise and single games from Ricks and Westminster. Saturday Weber's post season play opens against the U.S.A.C. Regional Games Start March 12 At Snow College Local Ball Hawkers Have Tourney Spot The Region Four, National Junior College Athletic Association basketball tournament will be held on March 12, 13, and 14. Eight teams representing Utah, Montana, Idaho, Arizona, and Wyoming will participate. Snow college of Ephraim, Utah, will be the host school. Director of the tourney is Coach Jim Williams of Snow. A tentative list of the teams includes Weber, Boise, Snow, Phoenix Junior college or Eastern Arizona Junior college, Northern Montana Junior college, North West Junior college of Powell, Wyoming, and the first and second teams of the Southern half of the I. C. A. C, probably BAC and Dixie. The reason Boise and Weber get in is although they are the third and fourth place teams in the North half of the I. C. A. Students By SHARON GERBER Scribulus is finally at the printer's, and due to come out about Wednesday. It has been a long struggle, but we . feei It wui be worth the time and worry all have spent on it. A great many individuals on the campus have helped us a good deal and we would like to thank you all for your patience and cooperation. Included in this issue of Scribulus are three full pages on football, a coverage of drama, assemblies, school dances, homecoming, and intramurals. Several pages of girls on the campus and some of their activities (a new feature for Scribulus) will also be included. There will also be a full page on clubs. The price is only twenty-five cents. Friday the 13th was unlucky for Ricks as she got spanked hard, 84 to 68. This was sweet revenge for Weber, who had suffered two earlier losses at the hands of Ricks by less than 3 points. It was Weber all the way as 21 points were scored in each quarter. Weber led all the way and the closest Ricks could get was MO points behind in the third quarter. With little of the second period played, Weber led by 18 points and Coach Reed Swenson ran in the reserves, who played most of the remainder of the game. Bob Nish garnered 20 points for the winners, and Ron Lowder, Von Larson, and Larry Peterson scored 47 points between them. Sellers, Squires, and Hill starred for Ricks. Saturday, the 14th saw Weber's luck run out. The Vikings tamed the "Wild Kitties" 72 to 51. Ricks led all the way and won despite a valiant Weber stand which closed the gap to seven points late in the fourth quarter. Nish hurt his hand early in the game and was considerably hampered in his play. Don Shaw got 19 points for the defeated team, and Peterson and Lowder followed in the scoring. Hopkins was the big gun for Ricks, scoring 24 points. Weber's ski team came home with the bacon for the fourth consecutive year as they won the I. C. A. C. ski meet held at Snow Basin last Friday. Star of the day was Dick Peterson, who won first honors in the downhill and in the slalom in times of 1:23.5 and 51.2. Weber garnered , 711.2 points against Boise's second place total of 648.5. Snow ran third, followed by Carbon and Westminster. Merlin Bingham of Weber was third in the downhill with 1:25.2. Other Weber students in the race were Stan Peterson, Jim Hendricks, Rex Warner, Lou Wangs-gard, Wes Rose, and Grant Beut-ler.Stan Peterson took fifth place in the slalom with 60.7 seconds. Merlin Bingham and Grant Beut-ler also entered in this event. The first and second place winners of each event received trophies and Weber received the team trophy.
