He replaces Dean Black, who held the post during the school term recently ended. Mr. Black has accepted an internship to Denver University. Mr. Shupe has been studying student personnel at the University ofMinne-sota and working in the university's Coffman Memorial Union, one of the oldest and largest university unions in the nation. He had served as program uiiectui ui inN- WSC Union for threeyearsprior to doing the graduate study. He is married to the former Delores Anderson, of Og-den. BULLETIN Elections for Freshman class officers will begin with circulation of student petitions. Students interested in running for offices should pick up petitions and by laws at Union main desk. Campaigning begins Sept. 28 with primaries on Oct. 1 and finals, Oct. 8. Pre$. William P. Dr. Cammack Named To New Position Dr. Elwin F. Cammack has been appointed to fill a new administrative position at Weber State College -- assistant dean of faculty and director of institutional research. Dr. Cammack recently earned an Ed.D. degree at Michigan State University, East Lansing, Mich. Hehad been a member of the Weber State mathematics faculty for four years priorto leaving for his doctoral studies in 1962. In his new position, Dr. Cammack will assumepart of the growing responsibilities handled by Dr. Robert A. Clarke, dean of faculty, said Pres. William P. Miller.He will assist in the administration of the instructional program of the college, and will prepare reports on faculty productivity and curriculum for state agencies, including the Utah Coordinating Council of Higher Education; student enrollment studies and projections, and related studies. In the institutional research area, Dr. Cammack will conduct studies of faculty teaching loads, class size, building utilization, the curricular and other academic programs, the student body, and many other activities relating to operation of the college. Miller addresses new Freshman assembly Thursday Sept. 16 Tuesday was the R js t "Blessed is he who learns something new every day," said head librarian, James R. Tolman at the dedicatory services of the new Weber State College library. Realizing a dream in the making for five years, Mr. Tolman continued, "Thisis a great day for me. We are proud of this building. . ." Speaking before an audience of 200 faculty and guests, Weber State Pres. William P. Miller welcomed the honored speakers and guests. President Miller spoke with pride of Weber State's building progress. Glen R. Swenson, Director of the Utah State Building Board, accepted the Class in Orientation (I if 5.. ; 1 I dedication for newly contructed fin Lfll building for the taxpayers of Utah with the statement, "Completion of this building provides another necessary and vital tool in the development ofWeberState College. Additional speakers on the program were Ira A. Huggins, chairman Board of Trustees; John Bour-land, president Associated Students; Dr. D. P arry Wilson, president Faculty Association, and Dr. Don A. Buswell, president Alumni Association. Opening theprogram was the Weber State Cornet Quartet, under the direction of Fay Hanson. Closing dedicatory prayer was given by Floyd J. Woodfield, chairman of the Faculty-Library Committee. Mr. Woodfield stated, "We are grateful to our forefathers because they have given to us the free- BULLETIN The annual Hello Dance will be held tonight in the Union Building. Electro Committee Formed Six representatives from prominent defense andpri-vate industries along with college faculty formed and held the first meeting of the Advisory Committee for Electronics at Weber State College. Halls Whisper This past week Mr. and Mrs. Hurst welcomed 72 girls to LaSal Hall and prepared themselves for another year of the usual challenges of dormitory life. Mr. and Mrs. Halliday also welcomed 72 girls to Stansbury Hall. This year will be a new experience for them, instead of the hardy sounds of young bachelors, as they were accustomed to last year, they will be hearing the lilting voices of young maidens. Mr. and Mrs. Crawley welcomed a good part of our football team to Wasatch Hallthree weekspre-vious to registration. We can't help but think thatthe good food and com fortable beds provided them may have been of some help in their victory over Arizona State.
