Show DIXIE COLLEGE OPERA "THE MARRIAGE OF NANNETTETO BE GIVEN The college opera, The Marriage Mar-riage of Nannette, will be given by the college singing department, depart-ment, under the direction of Joseph W. McAllister, May 15 land 16, at the college auditorium. auditor-ium. According to Mr. McAllister, this is a French story, charged j with mystery, love, and comedy. ! Nannette, the heroine, a poor in- j keeper's daughter is barely saved from the schemes of her design- ! ing relatives to become the wife of the Duke, by good fortune, she and Rene, her own true lover, are able to live happily ever after. How she is saved you will find out when you attend at-tend this opera. Besides the story, states Mr. McAllister, there is a marvelous group of singers, and. some clev- ; er dancers. Zeno-! bie, Mtona Reber; Reporello, El-win El-win Hunt; Duke, Leland Lam- oreaux; Yvonne, Katherine Clark; ' Madelon, Nellie Snow; Henri, I Raymond Farns worth; Hilaire, 1 Mack- Hoyt; Edmond, Lellwin Wilkinson; Heloise, Virginia Moody; Roderique, Keith Ross; Emile, Therol McArthur; Yvette, Lilly Huntsman; Susanne, Vera Shakespeare ; Marcel, Garth Sandburg; Pierre, Merlin Chris-; Chris-; -ten-son; Santo, Esther Thompson; Thomp-son; Jean, Harold Mace; Gypsy Dancer, Esther Andrus; Gypsies and villagers, the chorus. Prof. E. J. Bleak's orchestra will play the accompaniment with Miss Clara Woodhouse at the piano. The dancing will be in charge of Miss LaVera McArthur. This opera has proven very popular every place it has been played and those in charge feel that with the cast that has been chosen to enact it, it should prove to be one of the most outstanding out-standing of Dixie's performances for this season.. |
