Show MOTHER OF LOCAL MEN DIES AT HOME IX PROVO Mrs. Francis Knight, 82, mother moth-er of Dr. Clarence Clark of St. George and Dean A. Clark of Hurricane, Hur-ricane, one of the first children born in Provo died at her home there Monday night, December 30. Mrs. Knight was born in Provo, May 17, 18 53, when the little log stockade known as Fort Provo, struggling pioneer settlement was only four years old. Her parents were Dominicus and Polly Miner Carter. She participated in the simple activities of the pioneer community commun-ity and received the schooling obtainable ob-tainable in those early days and later became a student at the Brigham Young academy. She was married to Joseph Clark in the Salt Lake Endowment Endow-ment House, September 26, 1862, by George Albert Smith. Mr. Clark died March 9, 1S95. She married Newell Knight on October 17, 1898. He died in 1907. Surviving her are four sons and one daughter: Dr. Clarence Clark, j St. George, June W. Clark, Ogden; j Dean A. Clark, Hurricane; Spen-j cer Clark, Provo, and Mrs. Han-! nah C. Pike, Los Angeles; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alma Carter, Car-ter, Raymond, Alberta, Canada, and J. Will Carter, Provo. |
