Show CALIENTE MERCHANT DIES IN SALT LAKE CITY Carl L. Alquist, 57 years old, prominent promin-ent merchant of Caliente, Nev., passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah, after a brief illness late Christmas evening. He is survived by his widow, Lottie Jeffs Alquist, a daughter, Mrs. S. D. Pulley, a nephew Anton Olson, and a number of brothers and sisters in Sweden whom "he visited with the past two summers in Sweden in company with his wife. His aged mother passed away while he was at the old home last summer. Carl Alquist had been in the general mercantile business in Caliente for 20 years and during this time assisted by George and John Jeffs, brothers of Mrs. Alquist, he had built up a large and profitable business during the past 15 years. He had taken a great interest inter-est in civic affairs in Caliente, serving on the town boards and financially assisting as-sisting any enterprise for the constructive construc-tive progress of the community after his return from Sweden. He formed the Caliente Publishing Company to publish the Caliente Herald Her-ald and was president of the company at the time of his sudden passing. |
