Show FROM CALIFORNIA. I.ETTVK J-'JtO.M ELDER OLIVER (.. THORNTON. OK 1'IXTO. Editor. The News. Dear Sir: As I have changed quarters from San Jose to San Francisco, I would be pleased if you would send the Washington' Co ext y News to the above address until further notice. The weather here is delightful at present, and has been nearly all winter, too much so for the farmers as they would prefer more rain and less sunshine. sun-shine. The rainfall thus far this season sea-son has been very light; and as the last season was an unusually dry one. so much so that crops in many sections were a failure and many fruit trees died from the effects; we almost fear to contemplate con-template the results of such a dry season. sea-son. The "Roberts case" is making quite a stir among the people here, but so far we can see no bad results arising from it. It only acts as an advertiser for us, and in it we again see the Words of the Prophet Brigham Young verified, wherein he said: "Every time you kick Mormonism you kick it upstairs." The work of the Lord is growing, even in California, and as a result of our labors we often have the pleasure Of seeing an honest soul added to the "true fold of Christ." The News is a very welcome weekly-visitor, weekly-visitor, as much so as a home letter; and, though I couldn't say from experience, ex-perience, I think as welcome as some from the "best girl" judging from the "map" drawn on the faces of some of the boys after they have received one with that stamp on. Ever praying for the success of yourself your-self and paper, I am respectfully Elder O. G. Thornton. 915 Golden Gate Ave-., Sau Francisco. |
