Windsors Choice From the sage brush days of early Provo Bench history to the present rush and traffic of the state highway where thousands of cars daily pass through this beautiful productive area will all be depicted Monday evening Sept. 4, at the great annual Homecoming event, celebrating the anniversary of the founding of Orem, and combining with this celebrationg the Labor Day festivities, the Annual Harvest Fest'val sponsored by Scera. and adding the fun night of a Water Carnival and dance, accbrding to J. G. Stratton, chairman of the publicity committee of the Greater Orem Day Inc. of which Koy E. Park is president. vice. Tlmpanogos was the first ward organized and its pageantry will be shown, with Spencer school, as the first to be organized, also depicting its founding. Then came Lincoln high school, and later the establishment of Rosalawn after the organization of Scera, and all these historic events will be depicted, along with each successive mayor, and the pur. chase of the fTown Hall under Mayor B. M. Jolleys administra tion, each mayor to be Introduced and his record presented. Mr. Stratton believed this feature alone will bring many hundreds of visitors to Orem to see enacted such scene! with which they have lived and for which they worked for to many years. It will indeed be a great "Home Coming. Mr. A. H. Christensen is general chairman of the Pageant committee. Other attractions will Include the huge water carnival and dance at night. One of the Queens of the Home coming contest will be elected Queen of the Water Carnival, and she will reign over the evening festivities with royal grace. A beautiful electric refrigerator will be given away to the lucky ticket holder, and several floor lamps, and a number of valuable pieces of harvest equipment are itocroanonai nciiviiios I Sponsored TLMPANOGOS TRAMS LEAD SECOND HALF RACE Racing through their second half schedule without a loss to date the Tlmpanogos boys and girls teams are leading the pack in their respective leagues. The girls team haa had no serious threat to date but are expected to run Into plenty of trouble when they stack up against the strong Vineyard ten. Neither of these teams have lost a game this half and both are grooming themselves for a bitter battle for the second half title. Tlmpanogos von the first half flag. The Timpanogos squad flinally emerged the victor and will oppose the Windsor team In the big Orem Day celebration. Representing the boy will be Windsor and Grand View. These four teams have been the outstanding teams in the Primary 8ofaball league. These two games are scheduled to sart at 10 oclock Monday morning. .The game will be so arranged as to enable the players to see the big parade which Is scheduled for the morn, ing also. OREM BREAKS EVEN WITH NEPHI Last Monday the Orem softball squad journeyed to Nephl and administered a sound trouncing to the touted Nephl ten. The score 11 to 4. This victory however was a far cry from the return game played in Orem with the same team. Arriving a half an hour late and taking another half hour to warm up necessitated the calling of the game at the end of the third inning just as the home team seemed to be getting underway. Ward members in each ward where the various queens have been chosen are voting for their favorites by purchasing goods at stores in their own wards or elsewhere, each 50 cent purchase entitles the purchaser to 100 votes for any queen he or she may select. included prize list. Tickets are available for these drawings at all the stores in the entire Sharon stake. Mr. Stratton urges every purchaser at any store dn the district to demand a ticket with every 60 cents purchase. Miss June Foutin from Timpanogos, Miss Wilma Wiscombe from Edgemont, Miss Laraine Jones from Pleasant View. Miss Belva Williamson from Lake View, and Miss Margaret Gammon from Vineyard. Each store must give a ticket if you ask fir one, no matter how many times you purchase 50 cents worth of merchandise. Ask for your ticket every time, advises Mr. Stratton. The afternoon will bi filled with races and games for the youngsters and prizes will be awarded for each event. The Homecoming however will commence In the morning with the parade of historic and com. mercial floats. Each of the old families of Orem is entitled to build a float depicting its own motto and accomplishments in the district.
