Ail r r EH. o V Ruth Richards and Clark Adams Sherry Smuin and Jason Hatch Smuin and Hatch to wed Friday night Sherry Lynn Smuin, daughter of Levi and Mary Smuin, will become the bride of Jason Boyd Hatch, son of Doug and Carol Hatch, all of Vernal, in a ceremony Friday, Nov. 29 at the Western Park. The couple will be honored during a reception from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Cultural Arts Club Members of the Cultural Arts Club met Nov. 20 at the home of Lee Ora Jacobe. The business portion por-tion of the meeting was conducted by President Alta Rust. Jacobe presented the program on her collection of baskets from her travels around the world. She told of the history of baskets, how they are made and the various purposes they arc used for. The next meeting will be on Dec. 4 at the home of Margaret Roberts. The program will be presented by Jean Guy. " ' Current Topics The Current Topics Club met at the home of Maxine Miller on Nov. 20, with Lynda Anderson as co-hostess. co-hostess. Twenty-four members were present to enjoy a program given by Janet Wallis and Sheila Wheeler. They reviewed some of the problems prob-lems that have been encountered over the years with the production of the Oudaw Trail Festival and how the play has improved. Wallis talked about the Western Park's accommodations and how the community became involved with the amphitheater. She also brought the group up to date on the museum at the Park, stating that the opening art exhibit last June by Valoy Eaton, drew some 3,000 people. peo-ple. The Current Topic, 'Terms of Endearment" by Jim Wright, on sexual harassment was given by Elaine Henderson. The next meeting will be at the home of Velma Erekson. Both Sherry and Jason are 1991 graduates of Uintah High School. She is currendy attending Weber State University. Following their wedding, the couple cou-ple are planning to live in Vernal. XI Alpha Xi Members of Xi Alpha Xi gathered on Monday, Nov. 25 at the home of Rita Combs. They welcomed guests, Patty Allied and Nicole Cass to their meeting. The members discussed a special "give from the heart" service project for the holiday season and planned the chapter Christmas party and the December social. A program cntided "What is Your Sign?" was presented by Combs. Refreshments were served by Edith Erfling. The Dec. 2 meeting will be.at.the. home of Mary Fritz. Uintah Poetry Society The Uintah Poetry Society met for a meeting on Nov. 19 at the State and County building. An interesting program was presented pre-sented by Mae Freestone on Indian lore and chants. The next meeting will be the Christmas party at the 7-11 Ranch Restaurant Progressive Arts Club Members of the Progressive Arts Club met on Nov. 20 at the home of Lucille Caldwell, with Ruth Walker as co-hostess. Wendy Morton demonstrated how to find a proper heart rate when doing do-ing aerobics and members participated partici-pated in some aerobic exercises. The next meeting will be at the home of Marilyn Madsen. The couple will be married on Gamma Beta Members of Gamma Beta met for their second meeting of the month of November at the roller rink. Cynthia Murray was in charge of the evening's program in which she invited Kevin Young to teach "country swing" and various other country dances to the 19 members attending. Refreshments were served by Claudia Fletcher and the door prize was won by Debbie Yarbrough. The next meeting will be on Dec. 2 at the home of Cheryl McCullough. She will also present the program. Newborns On Nov. 21, 1991 a boy was born to Lynette and Scott Atwood. He weighed 7 lb. 4 12 oz. and will be named Allen Scott Atwood. On Nov. 22, 1991 a girl was born to Marydean and Wayne Dee Pack. She weighed 7 lb. 4 oz. and will be named Jennie Beth Pack. On Nov. 26, 1991 a boy was born to Shellie and Foston Chivers. He weighed 7 lb. 8 oz. and will be named Foston Yeager Chivers. Then me and my daddy and my sister and my mommy would eat it." Zack Lee-"l would get the turkey from Ithe store. I would open it, take the stuffing I out and cook it for about 5 minutes. The wedding ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. with a reception following from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The couple plan to make their home in Vernal. Golden Age News Fund raisers provide money for stage by Ada Murray The stage at the Golden Age Center is completed and ready for use. The funds used to build the stage came from various fund raising rais-ing projects over the years. Projects include bake sales, rummage sales and operating the concession stands at the fair grounds during horse club events and small rodeos.. The projects done under the- Uintah ; Club at the Golden Age Center.. : Seventy-one people attended the Thanksgiving dance last Friday night. Several dancers who had not been seen in a few months joined in the festivities. They were: Bill and Donna Rasmussen, Berle and Modena Bell, Harold Workman and Dee and Overta Curfew. Happy birthday was sung to Dee Curfew. A pot luck lunch was served. Ellen Rawlins and Terry Barker played music during intermission. Besides bingo, pool, game day and exercise classes, there is also crafts on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 a.m. for those who are interested interest-ed in participating. Ada Murray was the first place winner at bingo last Tuesday with four games. Six ladies tied for second sec-ond with three games each. They were: Loma Holmes, Joyce Moore, Jean Staten, Patty Goodrich, Viola McKelvey and Anita O'Driscoll. The Golden Age Center will be closed on Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. Richard Burns-"l would get the turkey from the store. I'd put pepper and salt on it and cook it for 8 minutes. I would eat it with my Grandpa and Grandma and family." Jimmy Worthen-"l would get the turkey up on the hills. I'd shoot it. I would put pepper pep-per and salt on it and cook it in the oven. When the buzzer goes off it will be done. I would eat the turkey with my whole family." Michael Taylor-"l would get it from the mountains. I would take its feathers and beak off and eyes out. I would get a stove and cook it. My mom and daddy and maybe my friend would eat it with me." Zack Jacobsen-"l would get the turkey from my mom and cook it in a pan for 10 minutes. I would put salt and pepper on it first. I would eat the turkey with Jessi and my mom." Jason Mathis-"l would get the turkey from where all the turkeys come from. I'd fix it Mri";a knife; and some 'other things I would build a fire and hang the turkey over it. I would eat it with mv friends." Dallon Kitchen-"! would get a turkey from a farm. I would put grease in the pan and put it in the stove for an hour.
