For his birthday, the kid got to Donald LeBaron, a missile scientist go along wit his dad. who She asked the boy how e liked te ride to which with the Sperry Rand project, orhe replied, Just fine. Daddy let me drive the plane has served since the ward was the for awhile. To say the least, this put an entirely ganized. He is moving from I am sure that any of you who have heard Shelly Bermans records have considered many of the situations he talks about as very unlikely. So did I, until I took an airplane trip to Phoenix last week. It all started in Salt Lake City. As I boarded the plane, I was very surprised to see the stewardess wearing a long night gown. I was thinking of running back home to pick up my pajamas, but I didnt have time. I didnt know what kind of a trip this was going to be, but somewhere in the back of my mind I thought that here was one airplane corn-pa- n y that was out to give the Champagne flights a lot of competition. As it turned out, however, the stewardess wasnt wearing a night gown after all. She was an exchange stewardess from the Aloha Airlines and this sack she had on was the national dress of Hawaii. It turned out to be a very pleasant trip after all. The girls name was Lani and she was quite insistent that everyone ask her questions about Hawaii, which she answered most satisfactorily. Towards the end of the flight she sang some Hawaiian songs that vere very pleasant The trip going was uneventful. It was the trip back that made me suspect the Arizona heat was a little too much 'for me. I stopped off in Cedar City for a couple of hours and boarded a plane there for Salt Lake Sity. For some reason, I was the only passenge r on board, so the stewardess and I chatted about nothing in general to pass the time away. The trip was exceptionally rough but the stewardess blamed this on the fact that we were flying low and getting a lot of turbulence. This together with the fact that i was an ancien plant didnt make me suspetc that anything was wrong. About a half- - after ur an-ho- take-of- I was surprised to see a boy f, " new light on the situation. It occurred to me that may be the reason this plane was jumping around like a jitterbug with a hot foot wasnt the atmospheric conditions after all. Maybe this kid didnt have enough solo time. The boy went back to the cockpit and I went back to praying. It dint seem to disturb the stewardess too much so I tried to be brave thru the whole sordid affair. When we landed in Provo, the pilot came to back the of the plane. I wanted to show him I wasnt a bit worried so I engaged him in some small talk. He was wearing green sun glasses and I asked him why he hadnt changed to brown lenses, as so many other pilots did. He remarked, Ive been thinking about it for some time. Ive got to go to my optometrist anyway. My left eye is weak, but the right eye is completely shot. Well, that did it. Here I was, in a plant that was ready for the junk heap, piloted by a one-eye- d You pilot with an eight year old kid as a I ask in off come didnt Provo and might why get the rest of the way by bus. To tell the truth I was too petrified to move. But Ill tell you one thing, when the wheels touched the landing strip, Salt Lake City never looked better. co-pil- Ray's Barber Shop Valley Vietc TletoA North East Corner of Kearns Catering to Men, Women and Children HARRY B.
