Show Thursday, June 11, 1959 P age 3 THE VALLEY VIEW NEWS Stake Confab Set June 2 Kearns Man to Head Utah Garden Clubs 21-2- MAGNA Stake conference for the Oquirrh Stake will be held June 20th and 21st. General sessions will commence at 10 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Stake officers will preside over the conference. Mutual conference will be held Sunday evening at the Stake House in Magna. Plans for Stake outing, homecoming and commemoration of the Oquirrh Stake are in progress for a bang-u- p 24th of July event. Watch for further information. Members of the Utah Associated Garden Clubs elected Walter 0. Bostwick, 5040 So. 4420 West, Kearns, as president during the organizations annual June convention last Saturday in Ogden. Mr. Bostwick succeeds Dr. Arvil Stark. He is employed by the Kearns Branch of the Mountain Fuel Supply Company and is a member of the Kearns Green Thum-berMr. Bostwick is well known in Garden Club circles, having served as first president of the Kearns Green Thumbers, he has been active in that Club for the past four years since it was organized in 1958 he s. Miss Fanchon Louise McCleery Nuptial Date Nears For Louise McCleery Miss Fanchon Louise McCleery, a graduate of Granger High and Kenneth William Fish of Salt Lake City, announce that August 20th is the date they have set for their coming marriage. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph L. McCleery, 4873 So. 5020 West. Mr. and Mrs. William E. Fish, 592 East 3065 So., Salt Lake City, are the parents of the prospective bridegroom. The wedding will take place at the reception hall in Memory Grove at 7 p.m. Program and reception will follow the ceremony. Summer Hazards (Continued from. Page holes should be taken care of and covered up. The traditional hazard of the ice box should not be forgotten either. Also small closet areas, refrigerators and other tightly closed areas should not be overlooked. A new danger that is frequently being publicized is the plastic bag. Everything is being sold or dispensed in the plastic bag now days. Some types of plastic cling and adhere to the children when pulled over their heads. This type is best destroyed as soon as its usefulness is over. Children should be warned not to talk to strangers, or to let strangers take them for rides in their car. Children should be instructed to inform parents or guardians if there are suspicious persons near playgrounds or in the neighborhood. Most areas in Kearns have no sidewalks along public highways. If your youngsters have to walk or ride a bicycle along them, instruct them to stay as far off to the side as possible. We ask that you have emergency phone numbers in a conspicuous place near your telephone. Numbers such as the Salt Lake County Sheriffs Dept., and your doctors phone number. Comply with this request of the Town Council and keep your children safe this summer. Every Wednesday in June at 12:15 p.m. Jeanne Leeson will talk about menus featuring dairy products, and give helpful dairy information. Tuesday, June 9, 6:45 a.m., grasshopper control will be discussed. A report on research results with relation to the preservation of fruits with radiation will be presented Thursday, June 18 at 6:45 a.m. Monday, June 22, 12:15 p.m. a timely talk with reference to weed killers adaptable to this area, will be given.
