WRITTEN Yvette Cruz PHOTOGRAPHY Jake Buntjer What could be better than getting a lot of something but only giving a little in return, not feeling guilty about it and being able to do so over and over again? At Wandering Wardrobe consignment boutique, it is not only possible but encouraged. Wandering Wardrobe is owned by Patty Hulce who was training as a paralegal but thought running a fashion boutique and consignment shop was a better fit. She and her husband opened up Wandering Wardrobe in 2000 at a strip mall in Springville, the town she grew up in and plans to raise her three daughters in. In 2002, Patty and her husband expanded their business with the purchase of a Victorian-styled home on Main Street in Springville. A consignment boutique allows customers to bring in new and slightly-used items and get 50 percent of the profit once they sell at the store. Wandering Wardrobe takes and sells all sorts of clothing, jewelry, shoes, books, movies and home decor —name-brand to not. Because of that variety, things never stay the same, either. "You go into a store at the mall and think 'this is the same stuff they had at Christmas,' it's never that way here," Hulce said. The employees at Wandering Wardrobe also try to get to know each and every one of their customers. They make a point to remember customers' names and they keep an eye out for the type of things that interest their customers and give a personal call if they get something in. Usually if someone wants a lot of something, they expect to pay a bit of money for it. That's not the case at Wandering Wardrobe. The employees are happy to help customers find things under their budget. Wandering Wardrobe is located at 511 S. Main Street Springville, Utah theVmagazine 1 7 |
