June 13-18 Strawberry days and rodeo in downtown Pleasant Grove June 10-11 Orem Summerfest in Orem Dear readers, This issue marks the beginning of a new chapter for The V Magazine, as the previous editors have turned its management over to my hands. I am a mix of positive emotion, tinged with nervousness, about how I will live up to the standard set by those editors. With that in mind, Clark, my assistant editor, and I have given serious thought to how we can improve the magazine. We believe this will be through further aligning it with its original intent and mission, providing clarity to its content and place in the community, and filling its pages with quality word and imagery. To help us achieve that charge, we are introducing departments to the publication. On our pages of this issue you will notice four categories, or departments: Arts, Entertainment, Style, and Editorial. Online and in the next issue, Food will follow. We want to make this magazine a part of the community, a place for people to find information about what is happening and what people are doing. Art, poetry, and short-story submissions are a future goal, and we currently offer the publication of any letters to the editor submitted. This publication is meant to serve as an adherent of UVU students and community members, and we are excited to see people become involved. Cheers to a good year, Celeste Tholen Rosenlof The V Magazine editor June 9 Probably computer repair. My brother knows everything about them. We would have a truck that says "Petersen and Petersen." Matt Petersen, Sports Editor The Sweet Tooth Fairy bakery is a locally-owned bakery and has gotten national attention for the fresh-baked goods. As they prepare to open a shop in Orem, we sit down with the owner and ask her about it. A music venue. We both work at Muse, so it would probably be the same. Gilbert Cisneros, Co-photo editor June 13 We would own a children's sports camp. My brother would coach basketball and football, my sister soccer, and I could do badminton. As long as we didn't argue, it would be good. But we argue. Kelly Cannon, Life editor Jeff Jacobsen is a music major touring with a local choir to California as an instrumentalist. He talks about the choir and the director, the music, and what it's like to see his dream unfold before him. staff the V Magazine When my sister and I were younger, we were going to own a photo business called "Goug-e-grens." It was a mix of our last names, and it sounds like "grin," like in photos? Andrea Whatcott, Editor-in-chief We would go to another country and set up a charity to help people.
