Show r /port/ MONDAY*FEBRUARY 6 '2006 Just Chatt'n AIO with Whitney Woodward Sylvester Allison made some time to sit with me after practice in the McKay Events Center WW: So, I know you're from California, Where bouts? SA: I spent half my life in L.A., and the other half in Southern Pasadena. WW: Who's your favorite NBA player? S A: (quick response) Magic Johnson! WW: What UVSC? brought you to Wolverine Wisdom WW: Favorite team? SA: Remember, I'm an L.A. boy, a Laker's boy! SA: Actually, It's a funny thing; Assistant Coach Curtis Condie attended the same high school as I did, so he heard about me through the grapevine. WW: What did you think of Kobe's 81 against the Raptors? Big changes for the Sacramento Kings lately. Adding Artest? Is that a good move and does that do anything good or badfor Ronnie? —Dan, Orem SA: Incredible. It's a great individual accomplishment. Still hard to believe. WW: What do you miss most about the west coast? SA: (laughing) THE WEATHER! It's been hard to adjust to the cold. WW: You graduate this semester. What's your best memory of playing basketball here? WW: I heard you took 18 credits this past summer in order to graduate this spring. How'd you handle that? SA: The experience of being coached by Dick Hunsaker. I have never had a coach push me to my highest level and potential before, SA: With dedication and commitment to my education. I wanted to make sure that I'd get my degree. That was my first and foremost goal. WW: You're majoring in Psychology, how'd you become interested in that field? As big of a headache as Artest is on anybody, Sac made a good move bringing in an All-Star caliber player still in his prime. Peja Stojakovic is a legitimate sharp-shooter that can light you up for 30 on any given night, but is also clearly on a downward spiral in terms of production. The question is whether Artest pulls a Terrell Owens or not and drives himself right out of Sacramento (the same way he did in Indiana). As for Ronnie, Peja's departure does little for the rookie. They play a different position and Peja's minutes will now go to Kevin Martin and Francisco Garcia. WW: You hit a clutch threepoint shot in what is probably UVSC's biggest victory to date over Pac-10 ASU. Tell me about that shot. Courtesy photo/UVSC Athletics SA: I've been fascinated with it ever since I was a kid. I plan on getting my masters degree in child psychology and sports psychology, but first I want to play out basketball as far as it takes me. SA: I just had a great look at the basket. The defender gave me a little space, so I took advantage. I shot the bail and luckily it went in. $9 will buy you a music CD from the bargain bin.... S-s-s-s-slow d-d-d-down this w-w-w-winter.
